Resource for a certain type of card trick

Postby kitaristi0 » Apr 9th, '07, 20:08

Lately I've found that I really enjoy performing certain kinds of card tricks. I guess you would call them close-up card tricks but I don't want to mislabel them. Examples of what I mean are Reset by Paul Harris, Twisting (the?) Aces by Vernon, Jumping Gemini, Two Colour Monte etc.

Does anyone have a good book or DVD for learning specifically this type of card magic? I assume Art of Astonishment has stuff like this but what else?

Jumping gemini is in Double Take of Gregory Wilson. I think card revelations would have the rest of the ones you are looking for. It assumes you know the basic moves for card manipulation and only shows you how the tricks can be done.

These kinds of effects could be labelled as small packet effects, as well as close-up card tricks. Bear in mind I don't mean PACKET TRICKS - there's a difference.

If you're looking for these kinds of effects - the Michael Ammar Easy to Master Card Miracles sets are a great resource. John Guastaferro's Brainstorm set has great material on it. Any card-based DVD from Sankey is a perfect choice, too.

If you're looking for impromptu packet effects, check out Aldo Colombini's Impromptu Packet Tricks DVD. The effects on there are very powerful (some are classics of card magic), and it's Aldo Colombini, so that alone should make it an almost mandatory purchase (in my humble opinion).

Hi,

Try out some of Paul Gordon's books or DVD's. He centres on non gaffed card magic. I think he has two websites: www.natzler.com and www.paulgordon.net or similar to that!

Cheers,

James
