Jay Sankey feel the power 45

Postby Happy Toad » Jan 31st, '04, 01:00

Well I must first admit to being a bit of a fan of Sankey. So what do I think of this one?

Well those that know me will know I am a lover of gimmicks and much less so sleight of hand. This is a DVD about sleight of hand and I reckon of everything I've seen this one has got me believing I can do that.

Basically it has 45 tricks or at least a key move that would be part of a trick. Mostly it's either cards or coins but occasionaly you may get a pencil, cigarette or note. There is no dialogue at all, just music backing it and it goes like this. Jay will do a move such as make a coin disappear from his hand to the other hand and back again, it then immediately moves to show you how he did it. This is shown very slowly and often from a number of angles and books just can't compete for showing this kind of stuff. Immediately Jay has shown you, it goes on to the next move and so on until you have gone through all 45.

I'd say difficulty goes from around a 2 to a 5 and would be just as good for the beginner as the old hand.

Some argue that where books score over DVD's is that they have a lot more stuff in them, I think this DVD is an exception packed with 45 good sleights you have enough to keep you going for an age.

Those that believe Sankey is not nuts won't get any help in their case from this DVD.

Only thing that I felt good be improved was it would have been nice if each move had, had a text telling you what it was called. At the end you do get a list of the 45 sleights. However the chapters work by number ie 1, 2, 3 etc which can make finding one you want to watch a bit of a pain. Still a small price to pay.

If you want to learn sleights for coins or cards and wonder which resource is best, my vote goes for this one.

A real bargain at around £15 if you don't buy it, Why not?

Firstly thanks for the list H.T. saves me going through credits and doing the dirty work myself.

Yep, couldn't agree more this DVD is a great encyclopedia of utility moves and switches etc... Just the kind of stuff that helps build your knowledge base for when worknig on your own ideas.
