Slow card vanish

Postby LeftEye » Apr 14th, '07, 00:38

Most card vanishes are fast and not so visual. So I sat down today and thought of this. Don't know if it's anything special and I hope it hasn't done before, I quite like it!

What do you think? It can completely vanish all the way but it's late at night and I wanted to keep the video short as uploading videos takes forever and I want to go to bed!

Comments welcome

Seems like a pretty cool start for an effect. Definitely keep us updated. Good stuff there.

Thanks,

Looks good, though I think a complete vanish looks better than a half-vanish - restore type thing.

I think you should probably post the entire card vanish. I have one question though, after the vanish, can you show the specs your empty hands?

Yep its totally empty hands it doesnt involve a gimmick. Impromptu borrowed card signed blah blah.

I was playing around more today and found you can do the vanish then pull out a totally different card, like a sort of vanish colour changing thing which looks pretty cool which Mikey.666 just said.

I'll keep working on it though try and make it totally vanish :D. Thanks for the comments!

smart idea ill give you that :D
But yeah a whole vanish would be nice, however i highly doubt you will be totally clean.
Im guessing this vanish is VERY angle sensitive though...

Surprisingly, its not too bad. I've used it a few times after inspiration from one of Paul Daniels effects. Its not something I use just to show off. It's something that they are not expecting to see and I use it when I'm sort of 'explaining' how to do a trick if you know what I mean.

For example on my ACR, I explain to them that when the card gets pushed into the deck it's not actually going in the deck. So I show them the move and say as it's pushed in it disappears as it slips between the cards. A nice little shock that I like to add to a routine.

I feel like it's a little obvious what's going on, but that may just be because I've trained myself to examine how effects are done rather than enjoying them :(

Unfortunately, going through life as a broke college student, you're forced to take the cheap way out; purchasing magic books and DVDs is NOT the way to go!

It looks really cool, though. I'd like to see the full vanish to see how you wind up with your hands empty, though, like you say.

I partly disagree with the above statement, and thats because books are such a great place to learn effects from and are very cheap and have so many more tricks in comparison to DVD's, i do however agree that DVD's are expensive for what you receive.

Anyway nice vanish, and its great that you are coming up with your own ideas which work, are visual, clean and smooth. Good job.

And i think you have gone the right way about this effect, in the way in which your incorporate into a trick and don't do it a a stand alone.

Finally i love the idea of using it in an ACR routine.

Yes, I am. I am just more focused on other aspects. I usually am really good at figuring things out, however, I still like to watch tricks and then to not know how they're done.

Very nicely done. Again, I would have to say it was a little obvious, but then again, we are our own worst enemies, we see tricks, figure them out and think less of them. Then again, i got one of my laymen friends to take a look, and he couldn't see how it was done at all. He was quite amazed.

I still don't see how you could finish empty handed.

All the best,

Nor do I :). Its more a vanish then re-appearance then your hands are left empty.

Now theres a thought.

I guess its more of a "one on one" kind of trick, rather than crowd stuff. Because of the angles, i know you said they werent that bad, but unless everyone was to one side of you, most people would spot it.

I dunno, youre the pro at it.

I still love it.

All the best,
