I was looking at this too, In my basket out my basket so and so forth at the moment i got S.A.D by Looch in my basket and Psycho-logicoin 2.

I am master of misdirection, look over there.

We are not falling out young Welshy, we are debating, I think farlsy is an idiot he thinks I am one. We are just talking about who is the bigger idiot.

It is okay, but I would invest in the Impromptu Book Test by Josh Zandman.

I actually quite like the Taylor made test.

The advertising is a bit misleading in that you can't just pick up any book and do it immediately, but it can be done with any book. I have used it a couple of times now and it actually is remarkably clean.

It is not that expensive and it is certainly one worth knowing about.

Sounds like something I should look into then. I believe it also has endorsements by the likes of Greg Arce and Richard Osterlind.

Yes, I think the IBT is much stronger since you can do it anytime anywhere. You could be in the library, book shop, wherever with any two books chosen completely freely and at random. Hey, I don't even get commission :D But seriously, it is goooooood.

It better be :) I am just about to put in an order. As an aside, I have heard some great things about Josh's Back to the Future effect as well.

Effects Taught

The Taylor made book test
Secret Santa
bonus routine: The hoy book test

“Finally a book test that you can perform with almost ANY book from a thriving, up and coming mentalist! On this DVD David Taylor shares with you the inner workings of this fantastic piece of mentalism. David has honed the routine over many performances in his professional act and once you learn the principle you will be able to apply it to almost any book, in any language very easily. The one-time setup of the book is easy to do and will only take you around twenty minutes.
Effect #1 - The Taylor Made Book test
Imagine a dictionary containing many thousands of words, with your head turned away from the, you riffle down the pages of the book and your spectator calls STOP at ANY point. With your head still turned your spectator notes the word at the top of their selected page. The book is now handed to the spectator to hold and now without ever touching the book again and with no fishing you divine their thought of word with 100% accuracy!
Remember - there is absolutely NO FORCE of neither the page nor the word! This word will be different every time and can be repeated instantly. Armed with this knowledge, you will be able to present a high impact, no-nonsense piece of mentalism that will blow your audiences away!
Effect #2 - Secret Santa
For the first time, David shares with you his fantastic Secret Santa routine! Imagine being able to have a spectator choose any item from a catalogue, a loved one's name and an amount of money to spend on that person and then one-by-one you can reveal EXACTLY each thing that they are thinking of! This effect can be performed in a multitude of situations and is a well-constructed, direct, multi-phased routine that you will love to perform and once again there is absolutely NO FORCE of item, name or value!
As a bonus, we have also included an explanation of "The Hoy Book Test" which is a totally impromptu, ungaffed book test that is used by top mentalists all around the world!”

The production quality of the DVD I would give 10/10 fantastically produced great cover and artwork. (However the video camera seems to be leaning on the side a little!)

The booktest is fantastic, you don’t have to buy any expensive book, it can be used with any dictionary, in fact any book, or catalogue as you learn in secret Santa. The method is very clever (I saw it live over 15 times and never guessed it) The trick is not impromptu but it can be done with any book with a little set up time. However it can not be completely examinable. 8/10

The Hoy book test is explained by Peter Nardi, it is a must know for any beginner mentalist and if you didn’t know it, you have a very powerful impromptu book test! It is a very old method so I won't give it a rating!

The secret Santa routine is very good, a good twist on the one ahead routine, its much better than forcing a card! It has a bit more logic to it as well. It utilizes the book test as taught. It’s a smart little routine. 9/10

I think the method is fantastic! I know Peter Nardi is using it, I believe John archer said he will be using it (can you confirm John?) And I’m sure it will find its way to lots of pro’s repertoires either as a stand alone book or to add as a selection with MOAB or any other of the book tests available.

Difficulty rating: 2/10
Overall an impressive 9/10

I haven't seen the effect, but I noticed another review of it (not too positive I'm afraid) at Online visions:

I personally use 'Word in a Million' which though not impromptu is a very strong effect. In fact I managed to fool a roomful of magicians with it recently - including some who owned it!
