What gimmicked/trick deck to you think would be a good adition to start with. A friend has an ID and I'm contemplating purchasing one, however I wondered what you guys would recommened, as you guys know your stuff, and your recommendations haven't failed me yet.

stripper deck, use it as your regular deck and it will give you the advantage of card locations and fare looking card forces.

I.D
Svenagli Deck
Stripper Deck

Those are the only ones Id really get any mileage out of.

The Exhange deck is brilliant too, the choice is yours really.

If I were you, Id just get the I.D but only use it occasionally and use as much sleight of hand or self working tricks with a regular deck as you can master.

That's been my main reason for not wanting to buy one so far, as I was afraid I'd rely on it too much, but seeing my friend's I.D made me consider it.

The Stripper deck is the most versatile of the 3... you can do most normal card effects with it, along with things you couldn't do with a normal deck ... or you can use it to do things an "easier way"...

I also think a Stripper deck is the best because with other gimmicked decks, you have to switch to normal cards if you decide to do another trick which raises a lot of suspicion in your audience. The stripper deck allows you to use its gimmick and utilize it as a regular deck as well.

Well, I'm bound to say stripper deck aren't I, but I also include both the ID and Lawrence Turner's fantastic Oracle Deck because it's such a versatile way of delivering a message to a spectator ( http://stores.lulu.com/lawrence_turner ). For instance, have the spec pick any card, show all the backs then ask her to turn over her card. It's the only one that says "YOU WILL PICK THE" and the name of her card. It's a real killer and great for table work because it instantly resets and requires no forces!

Whilst it's not as versatile as the trusty Stripper Deck you can have alot of fun with the Cardiologist's Deck by Tomas Medina.

It comes with a really good DVD teaching you how to use the deck in many different ways.

i'd say you can't go wrong with an Oracle deck. but as a first buy i'd probably say you can get more going for you with a stripper or svengali deck, the ID is more one-trick-pony than the others though.

The ID is definately a one trick pony, you can't do much else with it. A Svengali looks great but the spectators will want to examine the deck (depending on your experience)

Like I said before and what many people have said, the Striper is your best bet. The ID can be done with an ordinary deck and you will need experience to use a Svengali well.

It really depends what you need, a gimmicked deck such as the ID or Svengali, cannot be checked by the spectator, whereas a Stripper can...

I would personally opt for the Boris Wild Marked deck, it' s wonderful because you can just use it as your everyday deck, NO ONE will ever know, and you can practise your sleight of hand and shuffles, but always know if you did it correctly before you turn the card over. Just my 2 cents

A marked deck sounds like fun. I had one once (got it with a magic kit :P ), really enjoyed using it. Also like the idea of being able to check if the trick's been done right before revealing anything.
