card flourishing.... a mate of mine wants to learn some of the flourishes i use, NOT ANYTHING MAGICAL, like card control, mostly shuffling and 'fancy stuff' he has no interest in learning magic, so im not about to go and recomend him any of the DVD's i own. its mostly for our poker nights.

would i be frowned upon to offer to teach him some shuffles? bear in mind... i never bought a dvd when i first learned how to riffle shuffle, or even an over hand shuffle...

opinions, please.

I think as long as you just taught him some flashy shuffles and flourishes, no one here would object. In fact, I think it's a great idea that you teach him.

No problem. I don't think anybody would call it exposure if its something that every dealer in Las Vegas knows how to do.

No one can object unless you bring it up here

I have no problem showing a few friends a simple magic trick or two. I'll only show them things that are essentially sleight-free and easy to perform, not for their convenience but to bring a new appreciation to what I do myself. Once they realize that you need to practice for several hours to get a self-working trick up to par, they usually recognize that I am indeed a master of my craft (even though I'm far from it ).

Point is that it's a personal choice, not something you need to--or even should--poll others for.

Ciao,
Rob

It's a flourish, not a secret - go for it (and the best of luck  )
