i get what you mean, even the old Marvin Magic sets i used as a 'youngster' didnt have the right feel... then, thanks to WalMart, i got hooked on Bike cards, originally bought to PLAY cards with, not for tricks.

Saw my first trick at 4, learned my first trick at 6.

But 18 is not late at all; if you are didicated you can pretty much never be late.

Best wishes to all and their magic,
~Magically Dave

5 when I got a magic kit, that was my sisters present but it ended up being mine. But not until I was 10 did I really get into it. :)

I got my first magic kit when I was about 9, and all but never used it. Got a svengali deck when I was about 13, and never used that. Then I bought Derren Brown's book TOTM about 6 months ago, loved the magic section in that, and went on from there. I was (and still am) 18, and just working through RRTCM and Oz Pearlman's Born To Perform at the moment. Maybe it's later than most, but I still want to be as good as I can be.

I will never forget when Father Christmas brought me a magic set at my Grandmas house when I was about 25 eeer I mean 5  . i have allways loved magic tricks and performimg them and done them on and off for ever but never seriously and never rememberd any tricks, i have just caught the bug again at 36 and consider myself an absolute beginer, I love street magic with everyday objects but due to hand injuries I find it real hard to handle cards or palming coins without it looking real obvious. I have been practicing 'Quick Trick' from Penguin (a simple card trick) but it will take me ALL day to learn the real simple slieghts.
