Thanks Mandrake :)

Just the kind of "ok I'll buy it the blame Mandrake" type post I was looking for ;)

Seriously though, thanks for that :)

This is a great prop, but it will seriously only work well in a blazer-type jacket or a thick shirt.
Not sure if a trouser pocket works so well, unless your audience are sitting on the floor (angles!)

I can't give too much away, but it's worth it's weight in, errr, well, what it's made of!

I'm pleased to advise that I'm not on commission but I am on Valium and my bank manager is on the warpath. He seems to think I should put money into the account as well as spending it - silly man!

but I am on Valium

Please note Mandrake and talk magic do not support drug abuse

Seige, on the point of angles does it only work if the audience eye level is lower than the pocket? because i have been doing alot of walk around at partys where people are stood up so this could also be an issue?

Cheers,

Ben

Well, it's a difficult thing to explain...

Basically, my comment about *angles* has two meanings...

Firstly, as far as mechanical angles go, the S-A-R will work much more reliably when totally vertical - i.e. a shirt or blazer pocket. A trouser pocket, usually by nature, is less controlled. I HAVE tried in trouser pocket, and failed.

Secondly, the actual PHYSICALLY VIEWABLE angle can be a problem if, for instance, people are way above the 'site' of the S-A-R. As with many sleights which incorporate gimmicks, it is far wiser to be in control of your audience's viewpoint - as it is usually the sight of 'something unusual' which will catch their eye.

The easiest way to explain this is that there is a transposition, which, when occurring in the correct viewing window, looks flawless. However, I would say that there are occasions when things don't go as smoothly as expected, and there's a small degree of 'leftovers' which could be sighted by a spectator who, for instance, is standing close to you whilst you are sitting.

I can say no more in open forum! Except that, it takes FAR more misdirection to place a card in a trouser pocket and leave it on show - because it's NOT a natural place for it to be. Whereas, a breast pocket seems a far more natural resting place.

For those that can (and if you own a roo), you may want to check this nice little "Seige" routine out
For those that can (and if you own a roo), you may want to check this roo related thread out

For those that can't. Sorry
For those that don't own a Roo.

Hello,

Sorry for posting in on a long-ago discussed topic, but it felt churlish to open up a new one for just the one question!

Q: Could SAR be used in a black velvet bag (or indeed any thick'ish material), placed surreptitiously on the table in front of me, with spectators at 360' around me? (that is my most common performaing scenario, by the way-almost a haunted house/seance environment).

Thanks for any help, appreciated.

Cartomancy is a gift, and the power arises from the cards, not the Cartomancer.
However, the gift is granted to the person and not to the deck, therefore the deck is useless to anyone but the Cartomancer.
You and I may share the same deck, but only I will have the power at my will.
