Availible from http://www.leapinglizardsmagic.com/frozen.htm
Cost $25 for the booklet , $22 for an e-book

Difficulty 2-3 depending on the version performed

They say:
'The performer walks up to a total stranger and asks them if they have a coin which the magician will use. Spectator initials or marks the coin. Spectator drops the coin in the performer's hand.

The performer steps back a few feet, holds his hands at arms length and then blows toward his hand. Billows of "cold breath" puff forth with a cloud of (safe) smoke, like when you breath on a cold day.

The performer holds his hands over the spectator's, and cold drops of water drip forth. The performer slowly opens his hands, and a chunk of ice falls out into the spectator's awaiting hands. The spectator can then take the ice with them and wait for it to thaw to retrieve his coin.. yes it is the same one.'

The booklet contains 2 versions of this effect, frozen beginner and frozen advanced. Frozen beginner is a LOT easier than the advanced one. I love the beginner effect, at the moment i don't think i could master the advanced one, its out of my skill level sadly :(
Gimmicks
For each version you have to make two gimmicks. The first gimmick is common to both versions and is especially easy to make. You will most probably already have the materials. For the beginner version, you need a very very very simple second gimmick that i garentee you WILL be able to make already, it is so simple! :P  This second gimmick can only be used for one performance each but costs practically nothing!

For the advanced version you also need to make a second gimmick. This also is a one time use only but costs nearly nothing. The difference here is its slightly more complicated to make

Method
The beginners version requires a bit of psychology to work in the most straight forward way, but there is a very good description of a way to get around the problem if the spectator doesn't do what you expect. The effect is in no way diminished as the the 'get around' is nearly invisible to them anyway.

The advanced version requires a little more skill, but is better for a working pro because it is less restrictive for the spectator.

I thought id better mention a few extra points here. You do need to wear a jacket for this effect. You will need a few 'extras' found in a hardware shop or possibly even a pound shop. These should cost just a few pounds. You obviously need a good, bold marker pen to mark the coin also!
There are instructions here for making an optional gimmick which prolongs the 'life' of the gimmicks if you're doing walk around magic:wink: This needs a bit of DIY skill lol   but it is optional, you can do the effect without this.

I love the whole idea of this effect, it is so suprising and unbelievable for a spectator! On a background note, if you buy this (or any other effect from Leaping Lizards) you get access to a special forum. I havent been there yet, but Nefesch and Titanas both visit there. Also if you subscribe to their email list, you get 10% of any hard-copy effects that they sell

I give this effect 9/10 - i love it

can the "blow out smoke" be used as an effect in its own right?

Sure, if you want to! Its not the same as 'Solid Breath' for those that already have the manuscript by the way. You need to have your hands held up up though so provided you have something in your hands to pull focus, i think it would work fine
