Last night whilst performing for my friend and her twin sister i got the strongest reaction that ive ever had to my magic. The trick was 'Hair' by Daniel Garcia, it can be found on the guerilla guide to loops DVD 2. The effect is that you form a connection between two people, so that when you brush one ladies hair against her nose, the other can also feel it.

Before perfroming the trick i lead the conversation onto the topic of twins, and whether they ever share feelings or know what the other is thinking. This set the stage perfectly and really enhanced their belief in the trick. When they realised what had happened they started laughing and hugging, staring at me and then rubbing their hair on their noses again. It was very sweet and i must say, Hair is the probably the perfect trick for female identical twins.

Anyway i was so happy with the way it went, that i wanted to come here and ask you guys what have been the best most memorable reactions that you have got from a trick? hopefully we will be able to learn from each others experiences, and its always great to here a few success stories.

I hope this thread takes off, i would really love to here from everyone.

I was in school and I was called the Magician. But what happened was I and 2 more talked about magic. Now before I move along, they know the Balducci levitation and that is what they just stated in the conversation. But I said: "I know a levitation that don't involves lifting with one foot." So we went to a good place where I could show him the levitation. I did the "Kings rising". This was my first time I did this to anyone. It went very well considering that I didn't have all the "right" components.
So I levitated, and the guy FREAKS OUT. Literally. He said to the others that he -saw- me levitate, without using the balducci method. He saw -both- feets go up. And that was my greatest moment in magic.

nice one man, i think it always helps to build up to an effect in casual conversation when performing to friends. I've been wanting to try King Risings ffor a while now, and your experience sounds great!

Performing the first effect from Luke Jermay's Coral Fang (the one with three spectators) for some friends. The room was silent for many minutes before anyone said anything, and I was loving every second of it.

The best reponse ever, from an Indian gent I showed some things to was (in all seriousness):
"Can you do exorcisms? My wife has kicked me out for no reason & I think she's been taken over by evil spirits."

How an ACR can turn you into Mr Acorah, I don't know!

I had a genuine freak out on my hands on NYE after performing a mind reading effect with a simple ID. It was the meaning for the spectator of the thought of card (her daughter was 6 and her little diamond) that made the real impact and that's when the crying and demands that I tell her how I could possibly have known started...

I hope more people reply to this thread, because you can see a pattern forming already, it is when the spectator can give the trick meaning themselves that it creates the huge reactions. When i performed Hair to the twins, the one who i had actually brushed on her nose with her own hair, said later that the hair felt softer, more like her sisters hair. Its great when the effect grows in their minds into something truly miraculous.

I was in school one day, and people demmanded to see a trick.
After recess, I had a crowd around me - there were about 40 school kids, seriously.
I performed stigmata, and they thought I was the devil - screams were being thrown across the field, people shouting "This man's Satan!" and "There's no way.. no... no way... your ******g magic".

Right there and then, was my greatest reaction - never before have I had such reputation from that one trick alone; people were shaking my hand afterwards - I felt quite emotional!

Blizzard never fails to get great reactions. They are normally too shocked to speak. NFW and From Hell are a couple more that spring to mind.

After an insanely slow ACR that got good reactions, I moved on to some weerder stuff. I did an Acidus effect and the two people who ere watching went nuts (they were already nuts from the ACR). I edged my self into weerd effects and decided to end with A pulse stopping routine. I used suggestions heavily, so I don't think my gimmick was necessary. Anyways, when she felt my pulse slow down, she almost started crying/laughing at the same time. It was weird. It barely slowed down too.

Another time, I was practicing "Giant Killer Coin" (PH) and was trying out different false passes in art class. One person saw my "empty" hand with the coin and walked up to me and said "Ha, I saw how you did that!". I didn't act embarrassed, I was. I leaned forward and talked to her about what she thought she saw. I stole the giant coin from my pocket . I told her that what she saw wasn't the intended effect. I produced the ridiculously large coin from under the playing card. She stood there without moving, quiet for about 15 seconds before just walking away.

i got asked to do a trick for someone's daughter the other day, she was only a little one, less than 2 foot tall (i wouldn't know how old that's supposed to be); i thought to myself "i've no idea what tricks i can do for kids that young" so i just got out a card and did a BP vanish/production, she didn't seem overly impressed but there was an older girl stood behind her who looked totally amazed and got all giddy and kept asking me for tricks all night. that was.... nice (in it's own way)
i got the Stephen Fry-esque "F##K OFF!" as well after doing a mind reading trick. that one's always nice

These are wicked, i love hearing about those funny little moments when people freak out at the simplest of tricks. I did Crazy Mans HAndcuffs in the office the other day and it actually made the person seem to angry, i did it 3 times and each they got more confused " oh great, now im gonna be thinking about elastic bands all day!"

well 30, and it was a stigmata type effect but yeah running and screaming.
there was some japanese exchange sudents at a party years ago and they loved everything i did, balducci lev, french drop with a zippo lighter 3 or 4 times until it appeared in one their pockets. brilliant looks of surprise and wonder and exclamtions of "hah! 'smagic!!"
