Mr Brown-Black Jack

Postby Mikey.666 » Jun 19th, '07, 16:29

Here's a clip of Mr Brown "cheating" at a casino, while playing 21.
It's a good watch, however, I don't really see this as cheating?

In poker people calculate odds etc. to see whether they should continue playing or not. I don't see how this is any different

What do you think?

I've never really understood the "sin" of counting cards. It just seems like good strategy to me. I think his explanation of how he remembers cards is a bit suspect. I doubt he has an entire room in his mind with little tags on them. I think it's just patter.

The "sin" of counting cards is that it gives the player and advantage over the casino - something they don't want.

You can't really compare a poker player to a blackjack player because of many fundamental differences. Not the least of which being that a poker player (unless he's playing a table version such as 3 card/Pai Gow, etc) isn't playing the house. Casinos only care if your advantage hurts them, not the poor rube sitting at the table with you.

It should also be noted that it is not illegal to count cards. You can't be arrested for it. They can throw you out because a casino is private property and they reserve the right to decide who can and can't enter.

Anybody know of any good DVDs that teachers card counting?

I'm buying Weapons Of The Card Shark next week hopefully. Then, with that I'll be refining (sp?) my sleights for gamlbing based effects etc.

But, I would like to add a card counting DVD to my list, so I can expand on the mental side of things.

Any ideas?
