Hi,
I'm sure you've had plenty of private messages concerning this move but I'm going to add my tupence here because this is a bit more public for others to see if they have the same problem. I know exactly what you mean about being scared to do the move. This was one of the first card moves I came accross. I was trying to learn the two card monte, as you are, and it was this move that kept stumping me. It annoyed me so much that I forgot it; simply left it alone. I carried on with my magic and kept practising until i got to the stage where I wanted to find out about and perform the Ambitious Card Routine. Now depending on which routine you choose to do, the Top Change can be an integeral part of that routine and the specific routine that I choose to do (and still perform plus a few minor alterartions) does involve the top change. So I was faced with a dilema, do I change the routine or learn the slight. Eventually I gave in and learnt the slight properly. Now I can pull it off with no problem and cover/misdirection is not an issue. It just takes lots of practise and dogged persistence. That taught me a valuable lesson that I still try to follow. Don't give up on slights. By giving up on them you are limiting your performing ability, especially when you give up on such an important slight like the top change. Something else that I would warn you against is coming up with your own slights. Be very careful. If you can come up with your own slight, great! It takes alot of skill to come up with a truely original slight and you should strive to be original in all your magic. But it is dangerous when you start to fall into bad habits and glitches because again you are limiting your versatility. Just be very careful and always try and iew your work at a distance. Don't get sucked into bias about the quality of your slight.

Hope this helps you with your practise and good luck with this new slight, sounds exciting.

Fish

All the best,

Will Wood
