Hello,I saw your name on a forum and you looked like the sort of guy I needed... I recently ordered a Hot Rod with a book that has 40 tricks of The Hot Rod and i wondered if you could tell me if what im going to tell you is right..Well,i think the Hot Rod is done by putting a Hot Rod that has * ** gems on it up your sleeve attaching to a rubber band. Then when the magician shakes the Rod the one with all the different colours goes up and the one with the *** gems go's down....If im wrong please tell me how its done I really want to know. Oh and can teh Hot Rod be repeated several times or will the gimmick be spotted?

All my wishes, A.

Also, the person's obviously lying about ordering it for the following reason.

Since when can Hot Rods do 40 different effects?

Enough said.

Well, I have a booklet on the Hotrod here entitled: "40 Tricks with a Hot Rod" and it does indeed detail forty various ways of using the Hot Rod.

It's not possible Mike. Don't worry about it...The book only exists in Cardza's imagination.

Which is why when you order it from a magic supplier, they send you an invisible book...

Try putting it in on Google and see how many suppliers carry this non-existant book.

Mike.

Just like most things

But Mike J's right, it's quite a common booklet - and if you want to know what's in it, Michael, it's probably simpler to just pick up a copy, it costs very little after all.

i posted this because i get quite a few pm's and mailshots, most have valid questions and I'm always happy to help if i can but i wanted to post this as a lesson on how not to contact me, though you will notice i actualy answered most of the questions anyway.

a little time on searches would have revealed some other choice nuggets:-

"the hot rod force has many uses", marvins magic.
"dicy dots enough said" darryll.
and the best of all "fantastik"

Dang, I was going to post that.. beat me to it.
ITs not a new book. My local shop used to carry it.

ITs also carried at a few other online shops.

For the price you really can't go wrong. Lot of nice little tips and tricks if you use a Hot Rod including ways of getting past those who think they know the mechanics and, Michael, an effect with a pretzel too .

I would also like to point out that I really wasn't being facetious in my previous comments although I can see how they could be misconstrued as such. I was trying to be informative (it really is a common booklet in that you can find it in most places, and it is very cheap not because it doesn't exist but because it only costs something like four or five dollars) but didn't choose my words very carefully!

Personally, I found the e-mail to be quite funny. Why would anyone buy the booklet without first owning a Hot Rod? Isn't that akin to putting the cart in front of the horse?

And, I laughed out loud upon reading his method...Although, I've found that superglueing the one in place, while more painful, takes away the chance of an accidental drop.

But, I don't know why I laugh at that when we have members who think that you can do 40 things with a Tic-Tac box and not a Hot Rod.

Hmmm....

Mike.
