Let's not leave out the Holy Grail!

I always wondered whether in the US, they actually get Python and the League Of Gentlemen (which was a cult hit there) or whether they are laughing at English people dressed up in silly outfits.

Can an American please answer this? Seriously.

As a Canadian, this is the only British humor television show that I understand 100%. I love Holy Grail!

Meaning of Life was also great, but that Mr. Creosote scene was the most disgusting, disturbing thing I have ever seen.

Talking of Canadians and British comedy, I was quite taken aback to discover that Mike Myers is a fan of classic sitcom On The Buses.
The horrifying news was that he intended to make a Hollywood film version of it....

But, correct me if I'm wrong, Mike Myers is Liverpudlian?

Anyhow, who the heck could they choose to play Olive? David Gest? And there's nobody in the world, let alone the US, who could ever play Blakey...?

Stan and Jack would be pretty easy... I see Jack being played by Jeff Goldblum and Stan being sorted by Danny De Vito.

He may have been born in Liverpool, raised in Canada, but to me his comedy is pure yankee. Lots of shouting and few gags.

They'd probably get that talentless bint known as Ugly Betty to play Olive.
My stomach turns at the thought.

Also, classic Eailing comedy THE LAVENDER HILL MOB is to get the sanitised, bland Hollywood treatment. Look what they did to Ladykillers!!

Tom Hanks is no Alec Guiness. A third rate poster boy who believes the hype he's an actor.

It does suprise me that the League of Gentlemen is a hit stateside. There's many people in the Uk that don't quite 'get it' and it's a very British show. I really wonder what's made of it in the US.

Even with Benny Hill, they edited out the sketches that involved wordplay and witty dialogue and just showed the slapstick ones. Specially for them.

Is this the judian peopls front?.............right first things first the most important stand up comedian in my humble opinion is Bill Hicks....too many people qualify comedians as genius but Bill certainly is. Also it's worth saying that he had a hugely important message to convey, that first era bush republican america could'nt possibly stomach (check out his right to burn the flag rant/gulf war stuff).

Peter Kay is as funny as getting an arrow through the neck and finding that theres a gas bill attatched.

Blackadder is utter utter briliance (see above) and very accurate as it happens.

as for physical comedy....erm seige dissapointed mate........BOTTOM....
so much more funny than the sweaty bendy faced lee evans.....i cant even take ade edmonson seriously as a Dr on Holby as i think hes going to whip out a can of pheremone and shout "grab hold of this its the bannister".Just completely and utterly astoundingly great stuff......(see the one with death and wimbledon common) hahahahahaaha

the new statesman....come on more rick mayall genius folks

Did cannon n Ball not make a movie where they were police called boys in blue?????

also if you liked bottom......filthy rich and catflap anyone????

obviously the pythons rock

Jerry sadowitz love him or loathe him (cause you all know his magic ROCKS) is very funny if very risque.

just thought id add my two cents.... :D :D :D

They've already done it and the botoxed, Osmond-toothed Californian types beaming from the poster made me wish that gap-toothed cad, Terry-Thomas could be cloned a la Jurassic Park and show these insipid goons what real comedy acting is.

"Hard cheese!"
