Anyone know this trick?

Postby JAlexBrown » Aug 17th, '07, 01:36

I heard about a trick once where an empty glass (could be clear, even) was shown to be totally empty. The magician then drapes a bandana over the cup, a few funny gestures, and the bandana is pulled off to show the glass is filled with a liquid of the magician's choosing. I've seen this done once, and I was blown away. Any idea what this trick is called or if you have any of your own methods for doing this, could you PM me a tip?

Yea I have heard of this one, and seen it on numerous magic shows, one that revealed a version of the trick (performed behind a counter and with a kettle that had an elabourate wiring system), then he performed the trick again but obviously a different method, as he just had a glass and wasn't behind a counter.

I remember someone named a really exotic and weird drink, yet he still managed to produce it.

I don't know the exact trick you are referring to but Lennart Green has a very quick production of liquid inside an empty glass on Green Magic Volume 1. It's a nice offbeat production, not a huge spectacle by itself but a fun thing to throw in every now and then.

The Lennart Green Video is great, he uses the same technique to produce a shoe and various other random objects in place of the glass... I particularly like the way that there is no build up or lead into the trick, it's like the magic is happening to him.
