A magical interlude...

Postby seige » May 11th, '04, 12:05

Ello!

Just thought it prudent to drop some 'magic' into the board, as I think lately we've overlooked the raison d'etre of this forum a tad.

Here's something which I'd feel grateful for some opinions on, as I am getting so deep into magic again, and yet I have no 'nuclear comrades' with which to chat about such things...

And this is one of my points: I am sure that all of you here share the passion for magic, and yet for me, I have nobody whom I can drop down to the pub with and talk about magic.
In fact, it bores most of my mates to hear HOW, they just love to see the magic, not hear about it. They would rather see magic, and talk about football, women and beer—which, is fine by me! :)

However, I find that 'springing' ideas of others of you 'in the know' is the only way I can seem to get things right. A friend of mine who is very much into magic has moved from my area—and yet he was numero uno critique/sounding board.

Mrs Seige is an excellent judge of what works and what doesn't. I can show her a move or the basis of an effect, and she'll either say thumbs up or thumbs down... which is great.

However, discussing magic in a very open and receptive environment is something which I am sure most of us don't get chance to do, especially with like-minded people.

Luckily, I've found MSN. It's brilliant. I can chat with others and bounce ideas around—and it's marvellous!

I suggest an area where others may post their MSN messenger IDs and we can try some group discussions.

Good idea. Agree with the mates thing. Kids and Wife just run away when i try things out on them. Am now working on my daughters boyfriend until he gets tired of it.

heheheh

What I was actually thinking was something like:

Wednesday, May 12th at 7pm
Discussion on Mentalism, and a new effect... if you would like to take part, please contact Seige with your MSN address and be online at that time.

I sincerely hope that this idea works and sparks even more creativity - very often the old 'can't see the wood for the trees' syndrome stifles a lot of original invention. At the same time, can I offer my apologies for the meeting as A) MSN was removed from my machine at work in an attempt to solve some program clashes (I don't think it did any good!) and B) I'm hopefully on my way home by 7pm and the costs of a dial up connection from Chez Mandrake would be a bit on the worrying side! I'd love to hear a précis of whatever was going on if you think it appropriate or if you need a dose of dumb luck. I can be very dumb at times!

YaY

MSN is a good idea, easy to drop people into the chat etc and it gives us the chance to talk openly, not an aardvark in sight :)

Count me in! (as long as nobody has a cam and a new dress they want to share with me)

LOL

Chaps... The 'date' and 'time' above are an EXAMPLE.

If enough people are interested, we could set up a 'discussion coming soon' area.

That date and time was nothing more than a format.

I'm never sure when I'll be online as I have to fight with my bro before I can use the pc, I might be able to make that though, I'll just have to see.
