Damn fingers.....

Postby Saxon Greye » Nov 2nd, '07, 05:22

So heres my dilema: When I preform my hands start to shake so bad that I have a very difficult time with slieght of hand. Its not like I'm nervous at all I just shake for some reason. I also shiver alot. My fingers also turn purple and become very, very cold, so cold that I have to be certain that I do not touch anyone else while preforming. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on how to get my hands to cooperate with me? or if anyone else has this problem?

Do you perform lots?

I've noticed it happens less and less the more you perform.

Now it happens to me only when I first start, like a 'stage fright' if you will.
Once the first trick is out of the way, I'm fine.

This is the logic behind doing a really easy trick as your opener. One that you can do very confidently, so that you can get the shakes out of the way without worrying about them.

This, as most forms of stage fright is a form of stress. Lots of great techniques to reduce this. Go take a stress managment course and your life will never be the same.

I used to have this and I still do... However, at one point, when I performed almost daily, I didn't get nervous at all. So really, the main way to cure this is to perform more!

I actually made a thread about this a long time ago.

Do you see dead people?

Ok, I apologize for the bad movie reference but yeah, its pretty normal if you don't preform frequently. I get this now sometimes because I'm kinda on a break from magic focusing on school this year. When you do preform and feel a bit shaky just start off with some self working/really easy trick. You can get a great boost of confidence from the first reactions.
