Hi There.

Well what can I say. I'm 26 on the outside, but still a big kid when it comes to magic. When I was tiny, I remember an entertainer showing me a trick using paddles, and I was so blown away and utterly facinated by it that he handed me the paddles afterwards so I could see for myself that the spots didn't move - and that he only had two. Back then, watching any sort of magic trick would leave me dying with curiosity and wanting to grab and examine everything. I've been hooked ever since.

Probably the first trick I ever learnt was doing a "paddle move" with a coin showing it had two heads. Growing up I had the usual Paul Daniels/Marvin magic sets, and saved up my pocket money to buy anything from TTs and silks to more exciting tricks from Davenports in London. Later on I became very interested in card magic and manipulation and learnt the basics of card control, before reaching the impass that my hands were too small to cover palming and the more difficult moves and florishes described in my books.

Then I became a teenager and spent all my time "hanging out". Enough said really.

In the last few years I've gotten back into it again as a serious hobby, (currently my desk is filled with decks of cards, coins, sponge rabbits, lengths of rope and other various impluse buys). I've never wanted to be a "magician" with all the props and cabinates (tho I wouldn't mind the assistants), as I prefer to be more of a trickster who can amuse and bemuse people! I have two little sisters (6 and 8) who love it - but are a bit of a struggle sometimes. I wonder how many times others have performed a colour changing deck, only to have their audience demand that you turn it straight back!

Anyway, I look forward to reading your posts and swapping stories and advice!
