Yup, saw it a couple of weeks ago. Not the best I've ever seen, it was ok though. But how silly were those people? All they had to do was pile loads of food and water and lock themselves in the police cell, nothing would have been able to get them then. Well that's what I'd have done.

I was crying at the end though

This was such a let down for us... we chose it as our "Halloween" movie (We were going to watch Saw IV, but watched that the week before!).

Anyhow...

I was particularly disappointed in this. Not for many other reasons than it was a great storyline, but let down badly by what it seemed to have borrowed from many other movies of the genre—not least of all, carpenters 'The Thing'.

The gore and violence was cringe-worthy and quite real looking (I won't use the cliche 'realistic' because, personally, I've never actually seen anyone get their head ripped off in real life). But the bloodbath and darkness and 'edge' seems to be all there was to carry this along.

By halfway through the movie, it was clear that the ever-decreasing cast were all going to kark it, and you knew almost straight away what was going to happen. And for me, it was then just a matter of time until this played out and the end credits rolled.

What was a great build up and great premise was destroyed by poor acting, loathesome characters, stupid 'don't go into the cellar' type antics, and worst of all, the most obvious 'cloned' ending I've seen in a movie (Anyone with doubts, watch the Blade movies).

Vampires are sophisticated creatures. Blessed with immortality. And yet, in this movie, they're little more than just dumb 'monsters' running on instinct. It's a great shame.

There's little 'action' as it were. Just slayings. And games of hide and seek. And darkness. Some snow. And some blood.

I know loads of people who loved this movie, and frankly there IS some fantastic photography, great suspense and a brilliant feeling of isolation. But personally I don't like the superficial feel of it.

However, I WOULD recommend it if you like:

1. Gore flicks
2. Vampire flicks

But... I am a vampire AND a gore fan, and it didn't quench my thirst...

I've not seen the film but would urge anyone to read the graphic novel as it is spectacular. The artwork is brilliant
