<FONT COLOR="119911"> I enjoy this trick, I watched David Blaine do it about 3 times bfore I figured it out.
It's not really misdirection you need, I let them watch my hands the whole time it's just quickness.
As for children they are always curious to know which card they have so try telling them to watch the card in your hand, unless you have to use misdirection, in which case I say TOUGH!

This trick has nuthin' on the CARD TRANSPOSITION (MY FAVORITE:the reaction is much better than the two card monte)

i do this trick and every time i do it the spectator nearly swears.its a great trick i dont use it that much if i do i make sure the people i did it to before are not around.i stop the person from looking by:when i have the queen in my hand and they have the first switched card i place the queen straight over the other card (still holding the queen face up)then when its there i say without looking what card have you got (start the second switch)the queen of clubs or the queen of spades(by that time i have put the second switched card on there card in there hand.

for those who mastered this trick, what can i do to prevent the spectator from seeing the bottom card "rising" to the top of the deck?

i personally dont really like people who ruin magic tricks by trying to destroy em, like looking at the card they have. they need to enjoy! enjoy! i say!

TIPS: keep spectators about 1 foot away and when swapping cards, for misdirection, tell them to look closely at the cards.
a thing to say for misdirection for the break for the DL:

"I hope you believe in magic or this trick won't work"

The two card monte trick is very deceptive and produces amazing results for an unaware specator. A specator who pays close attention to the magician's right hand is bound to see the secret move. If you fail to misdirect the specator on the switch, the trick is bound to fail.

I hear what you are saying Robert, but if you check out some of the demonstrations you can find on the net (Ellusionist / emagictrick etc) you will see that with practise, it is virtually undetectable.

I have "Basic card Techniques" by Richard Kaufman and he shows clearly and concisely how to do the move. Then it's just down to practise and before long you will have it nailed.

I have to say that I personally find it a relatively simple sleight, especially when compared to the Classic Pass or the Elmsley Count etc.

This is an amazing trick, i've done it loads of times and not had anyone see the move. I keep eye contact with the volunteer and make the switch as soon as they stop looking at my hands, as long as you keep talking and make the whole trick very casual they'll look away . If you do this trick in front of one person they'll never see the move. It helps if you pretend to have switched your card with theirs and then swithced it back and then get them to look at their card before you've done the move, this makes them less suspicious.

one of the best suggestions ive seen for this trick... will have to remember it... thank you for sharing

This has to be my favorite impromptu card trick, when done right the reactions you get are great but it must be timed well
