You are assuming that society is so easily programmed. For the majority it may be, but I think that you will find that the laws here are made by special intrest groups, big business, and career poiticians, not the people.
It does not reflect what we think or believe. The current president acts on his own, despite the will of the people. He fires his Generals who dare disagree with his plans, and most of his own cabinet has resigned. Texas has always been like a seperate country, and it has been that way for a rather long while. But, here in the US nowdays, anyone who speaks out against the government is labeled a 'terrorist', thanks to the patriot act. Patriot act- what a joke. It used to be that to call a lie a lie was a patriot, now it means to turn in people who choose to exercise freedom of speech. The Us won't go back to the Dark Ages. What is barbaric, is the attempt to label a society because of the actions of the few, and the few have the biggest guns. Even so, there are groups who are stronly opposed to all of this maddness. It seems popular now to hate the US, and to blame us for all sorts of problems.... kind of reminds me of how Hitler demonized the Jews to justify genecide. There are people on these forums from the UK whom I respect, and it is not because of the politicts of their country. Nor would I judge someone based on the actions of their leaders- that is ignorance and predjudice of the most vicious kind and a most un- gentlemanly like attitude, which is to be blatant- quite disguting.
I would post my other views of the government of the US, but will refrain so as to avoid having the FBI show up at my door.
