I watched this kids other offerings. I listen to the way he talks and what he says, I look at the way he dresses. He is a kid who really doesn't care all that much. His folks probably don't have any idea he even has video's on youtube, or they just don't care. He presents himself the way plenty of children are in this day and age. A false sense of entitlement. Running down in front of family and friends and showing off your inabilities is one thing. Having a little pride, being self aware of your presence is another. He is old enough to know the difference.

...and deluded enough not to see it.

These little berks will get out in the real world and perform for people other than their parents who say "Bravo! Very good, dear!" and will soon have their lack of ability and presentation gleefully exposed to them whereon they will go home, cry, post a rant about "haters" and sell all their magic stuff on ebay and take up chess or the guitar.

Webcams should only be allowed to be used by over 18's.

Hve you noticed though that the people who go out and meet the haters are really bad magicians. But in there head people hate magicians not there is nothing wrong with them. You cant learn audiance management in front of a webcam.

Totally Mental wrote:I am sure glad he explained how he did that - so many slick moves.

What a novel way of getting the top two cards to the bottom of the deck - I wonder if anyone will catch on?

Of course, you realise that the guy makes many years of accumulated knowledge, not to mention Royal Road and Card College completely redundant.

In fact, if it wasn't so wet outside, I'd go and burn my copy right away.

Agreed about the cards though - yuk! Are those ordinary Bikes that have turned black through overuse (erm, thinking about that, probably not, judging by the state of his performance).

Yes but did you know behind the poster there is a secret switch, once flicked it becomes a bondage dungeon. I like bad magicians i am one myself and they make every one look better, except beard nothing can make him look good.

Watching people trying unpick a mentalism act is great though ah you clicked your fingers that must mean red some where in my mind.

I say we need more bad magicians.

I got kicked out of one of them once. Every time the madame tied me up I was out in no time. I think she got the hump when i stole her watch though.

Are people not being a little harsh? Yes the lad's card handling was truly awful and yes it is annoying that he is 'teaching' tricks on youtube (god help anyone that adopts his 'unique' methods) but he's young and keen and needs some help. As for the ranter, I am often stunned by the sheer aggression of some of the video comments on youtube. I suspect the guy was a bit upset at being utterly flamed by people giving little in the way of constructive criticism. He does actually say that he can accept criticism as long as it is constructive. Having said all of this, he should kind of expect vicious comments if he posts on youtube - I've talked myself around - serves him right. I felt sure I had an insightful point somewhere along the line but I can't seem to find it now.....

In the 'normal' flow of things you would have an insightful point. However this kid deserves what he gets. This is not even a half hearted attempt to learn. Would he get on youtube sit down on a piano and just bang away noise? No he would somewhat learn the song first,(okay in this case maybe not) He obviously learned this from somewhere. He is aware of other magicians. A little bit of reasearch would have shown him that he has a long way to go before presenting to the masses. He would have shown a little dignity and worn a cleanish shirt perhaps washed his hair. I see a kid with no respect for magic, magicians his audience or himself.

And perhaps I'm making more of it then I should. And not much in life pees me off because life is too short. But for some reason this kind of stuff really annoys me. bit rhymes with...

:D I know what you're saying but then again, isn't the whole premise of youtube that you can broadcast yourself no matter how talented (or otherwise  ) you may be? Don't get me wrong, what the guy has posted is truly awful and exposing the trick can't be condoned but to my mind, if he posts a bad video, the decent thing to do is to post some constructive criticism. Most feedback I see on youtube seems to consist of people saying "you should give up forever and better still go and kill yourself" which doesn't really help people improve. Maybe I'm taking things too seriously but I actually feel a bit sorry for the kid in that he is so bad he is bordering on comedy genius.
