You saboteur, you!

I was (and indeed am) the incredibly dashing fella in a skirt whose pulse didn't stop when asked.

Cheapskates that we are, both my partner Miss Deedes and I manged to contain ourselves pretty well. Their were a couple of old books I had my eye on (I spend way more on books than on tricks, the historical and creative side is what interests me most and I'm always looking for new (or old) principles I can nick for my own projects), in terms of tricks we only got a couple of small cheap things. Mostly though we were there for the lectures and the performances.

I had an interesting personal revelation when considering a half-price needle through the arm.. a few years ago that would have been exactly my kind of thing, but now I find I'm more interested in psycology than gore; could it be I'm growing up?

Back on the topic of Derren's ghost spectacular, apparently he managed to put on the third most complained about TV show in British television history (he even trumped Russian Roulette in number of complaints), so yay to him there.

Meanwhile the ghosts got into my VCR, so when I went to watch the show back again I found it didn't record the right AV channel (I just have an hour of snow), which is annoying, particularly as C4/E4 don't appear to be repeating it.

Apologies for coming in late to this thread but I was away at the time of broadcast only saw a tape of the show last night! It was all good stuff, a wonderful mix of techniques and routines from many other creators and woven together as only DB can do it. There were a couple of times when he smiled as though something had gone far better than expected and I thought he did well to maintain the atmosphere of suspense at the same time as firmly stating his non-beliefs. Even in Spain, the newspapers reported the show and the 700 or complaints about it - great publicity or what?! I like the comments on MagicWeek that many complaints had been made before the show was aired and it's assumed that those were from 'genuine' Psychics and Mindreaders!

I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed this and despite some vague notions about how some of the directing was done found it for the most part bemusing entertainment.

My wife and I did do the Ouji board part at home and it was nice to have that explained - I remembered something I had read about Houdini and I was half way to guessing the method but it was still a surprise when the glass started to move!

He's quite a showman DB and I found this show to be as much fun as his usual ones (mst of which I have managed to miss through various bits of bad luck!).

Due to the fact that i was on holiday when this was shown on the tele, i had it taped and have only just seen it. Needless to say there was a lot of hands over ears and running screaming from rooms, when everyone tried to ruin it for me.

I was entertained even though on occasions I was noticing how things were done. I watched 'Psychic Secrets Revealed'.
No idea how he did the second version of spirit cabinet with the papers.

It was slightly disturbing seeing all those suggestible students scared senseless. (I had to laugh when I saw the guy praying - I was screaming- 'It's a trick' - V. Loudly, even though he couldn't here me because i wasn't watching it live!!!)

The girl's voice (in the final seance bit) was spooky and again I had no idea of how he managed to accomplish that. Amazing, Slightly Uncomfortable but Thouraghrally Entertaining.

Can't wait for what the next Derren Brown Live show will be... (as long as it doesn't involve sitting in a box!!)

Whoa, that's cool, man. Thanks. Unfortunately, my connection here is extremely slow. I'm using GPRS 115kbps connection, yet the real rate I got is only for 4 -7 kbps!!! Streaming vid is not an option here, and those vids on DB Chan4 is RealPlayer streaming files. Ugh.

Anyone else got the downloadable files?
