I like the sounds of lots of drinking - however the need to drive back will be keeping me sadly sober :(

West Country meeting ?

Postby showman » Jan 6th, '08, 19:39

Hi Guys , It seems you have a venue organised ? Alls the same , may I make the following offer.

I have a pub in Exeter & would be happy to offer the use of the function room free of charge for a TM meeting. This room of course would be private .

The room is licenced & has a full bar , can hold up to 140 persons ( 60 seated, more if needed ) , limited parking in the area , I can give a list of good B & Bs & of course offer a warm welcome. Full hot / cold buffet service available ( at cost). It is well lit & has a stage , ideal for presentations & performances. There is a full PA system in situ & if needed a projector & screen for slides / powerpoint & TV displays all at no extra charge.

The Pub itself has a showman theme.

There is limited disabled access ( listed building issues ), some ramps , grab bars in the loo's etc.

There are pics at www.myspace.com/showmanofexeter ....

Just say the word & I'll book it in.

Cheers .

Paul.

ps , we are literally a few minutes from both train & bus stations & 5 minutes off of the M5. Situatewd in an urban area with shops , digs & pubs within seconds of the place.

Me again.

Postby showman » Jan 6th, '08, 20:06

Reading through the posts on this thread its apparent that many can't make the meetings because of work / gig commitments....... Why not orgainise a meet on a Sunday daytime ? It could run all day / night.

I know Sunday days would be best for me.......

Paul.

Thanks Paul - it may be an offer worth looking at in the Summer. Exeter is a bit of a trip, but a charabang trip down for weekend at sunnier times could well be in order :D

Definitely something to be discussed methinks!

Good idea, let's see how the short hop to Kent goes then take it from there? I quite like the idea of spilling beer on people who I haven't even met yet, and Mark has a wonderful ability to be grumpy anywhere in the country, at no extra charge!

Maybe if the Ashford trip goes well a trip to Bournemouth to Mike Danatas shop would be a possibility. It is an absolute Alladins cave

Got an email from Alakazam today offering a free goody bag worth £30 for any purchases over £100

Maybe if we club together we can empty the shop?

Alert alert!

The Ashford meet is going down this Saturday, who's definitely in? So far I'm assured that Dini and Greedo are booked for it, any other confirmations?

I suggest an arrival in sunny Ashford by 12 to ensure we catch Alakazam while it's still open and have plenty of time to drink ourselves sillier in the arvo.

I dont actually need or want anything but know I'm gonna get fleeced of all my money

So that's three glamorous assistants then. According to Neil you guys should be here at 11.48, I shall dispatch a car to collect you. Or would you rather a car each? It can be tricky massaging the egos of intercounty celebrities and I wouldn't want any hissy fits.
