Coin Practice Tip

Postby ehands » Jun 14th, '04, 16:16

Maybe this is obvious, but I just realized the value of practicing (front of a mirror) with larger&brighter coins so that the smaller&duller performance-coins are better hidden. This may work esp well for me because I have less than perfect eye sight.

Sounds like a good idea. It is often helpfull to practice with something more visible than your performance items, a good example is a very light coloured TT.

Cogito, ergo sum.
Cogito sumere potum alterum.

Using
larger&brighter coins so that the smaller&duller performance-coins are better hidden
may be obvious to some but such observations are always worth mentioning! I'd guess this would be a great form of distraction and would work the same with brightly coloured silks compared to less obvious ones. With any luck, we'll now be bombarded with new routines featuring two different levels of colour brilliance! Thanks for the posting and welcome to the Forum!

Good advice!

Similarly, this also helps when USING bright coins in your routines.

Something else—using silver or reflective coins for practice can be misleading, because they reflect skin tones. This effectively can camouflage them.

Try painting them with luminous paint! Sounds weird, but I 'customised' some old English Pennies ages ago for an idea I had for a 'colour changing' coins routine... (think copper/silver but with a twist of asking the speccy 'what's in your hand, copper or silver?' and it turns out to be bright yellow!).

The flourescent yellow pennies I ended up with are great for practice, as there is NO WAY you can miss them if you flash them.

Many people shy away from practicing with mirrors, and yet it's the closest you get to an 'audience view'.

BTW... welcome to the forum!
