Sentbox stuff disappearing?

Postby Amanda Angeli » Jan 10th, '08, 01:12

Hello Bananafish and Mandrake,

What could have possibly happened to all of my sentbox stuff? It is all gone.

Love,

Amanda Angeli

Sorry to hear of this problem, as far as I know there was no work carried out on TM which could have done this and, checking a few minutes ago, my Sentbox is still there. Perhaps you could ask members to check their Saved and Inboxes in case they still have some of your messages and can send them back to you - at least you might recover some of the lost data.

Does the system automatically start deleting the oldest messages once you reach 100% capacity? Just a thought. I know it doesn't help you now, Amanda, but I would start archiving important messages to my hard drive.

Old stuff gets deleted automatically but there should still be a couple of pages of recent messages.

Hello Replicant and Mandrake,

I would like to thank you both for your kindness in trying to help me. You both had wonderful suggestions.

Love,

Amanda Angeli

Neither am I, if the truth be told. Emailing yourself is one way of doing it; for simple text documents (like PMs) you could also simply copy and paste messages to a Notepad or Word file, and do it that way. Then you would have all your PMs safely stored on your computer, just in case.

In addition, you could also have duplicates stored on a memory stick, although I would personally only bother with this step for very important PMs.

I wish you luck with retrieving your lost messages.

Awful. Something similar happened to me when a forum closed down without warning, although I didn't lose anything terribly important, unlike you.

I assume you've checked your savebox, as well? I've accidentally deleted all items in an inbox just as someone else sent me a message, so maybe they got saved? Too much to hope, really, but thought I'd mention it, as it does seem strange that everything just vanished like that.

Hello Mandrake,

Hopefully this won't happen to anybody else. Next time, I'll back stuff up.

Love,

Life is the thing that gets in the way of plans Amanada. It is probably an automatic process and no one is to blame.

And really not having hard copies and saving them on a web forum is not the best of ideas but you have learnt this the hard way.

I think your best course of action instead of going on about what a terriable disarster this is, would be to try and get down on PAPER everything you can recall from memorey.

And then move on.

I am master of misdirection, look over there.

We are not falling out young Welshy, we are debating, I think farlsy is an idiot he thinks I am one. We are just talking about who is the bigger idiot.
