The fear of magic is rhabdophobia (rab-do-phobia).

It's also the fear of being punished severely.

Funny old world,. innit :?

A friend of mine is scared of a baked bean.

Yes, that's a baked bean. If there are several of them, like on a plate, he is fine.

One baked bean.

 Madness, but then again, what else is an irrational fear?

What about this for a strange one: Hippopotomonstrosesquipedaliophobia - the fear of long words.

a friend of mine's got phonophobia, fear of speaking on the phone. She's fine with close friends but gets herself in a total state if she has to speak to anyone else.

That's because beans are normally placid when in groups, but the threat posed to unwary humans by a lone, rogue bean is well documented. Of course the study of beans in the wild has been mainly restricted to the better known lowland bean and little is known about the behaviour of the other 57 varieties*.

I can relate. I have a fear of drive-thrus due to the ordering through an intercom part. Odd, I know.

Phobophobia. Now that is strange. How does one get through life without becoming a nervous wreck?

QUESTION:
If we can sue McDonalds for making us fat and cigarette companies for giving us cancer; why can't we sue Smirnoff for all the ugly gits we've sh*gged ??
