Magicians Rope

Postby LambertClan2006 » Mar 21st, '08, 15:16

What is the cheapest way to get a good quality rope for magic? I have heard some people say to get the cotton clothes line from wal-mart or any other store and put it in the dryer to loosen it up? Any thoughts on this?

There have been a few previous discussions on this and if I remember right, the advice was to buy the proper rope from a magician's supply store. Whilst other ropes can be used, there were drawbacks such as poor quality and lack of flexibility which is needed in magic efects. There was also the plus of being able to buy small quantities in different colours which might be a useful feature. If the Wlal-Mart rope is low cost, why not give it a go and let us know if it works  ?

Agree - buy proper magicians rope as it's just not worth the time to experiment with this one when there is so much advice available that reaches the same conclusion.

Search this topic to find guidance on where to buy as there is a difference in where you buy magicians rope from.

It's not really an optical illusion - it just looks like one!

I was just thinking about a possible substitute for magicians rope. It's not very neat, but suppose you tie together a bunch of different colored shoelaces? Not like brown and black ones, but go to one of those kids shoe stores and but purple, yellow, and green ones?I think it would look pretty cool.
