What's everyones thought of him? He's definitely a love him or hate him kinda guy. I personally love the close up street magic he does because it's what I work on. Ok, what a complete tosser with regards to being frozen in ice etc, but what he does, he does very very well with some brilliant effects. Take this for example..

I think we all know how he got the card to dissapear from the deck, but I'm lost how he managed the final effect.

I like 'em  Which is more than I can say for Criss Angel

On taking another look, I suppose he could have a 2 of spades as the 2nd card, throw it and slide the top card off at the same time..hmm...

I do like David Blaine, but only when he's performing magic and not some bizarre stunt.

You can read more on Blaine in the Hall of Fame forum, where you'll find numerous threads about him.

Blaine's a big yawn.

After all, as acenaway mentions, one of his stunts was to stand in Times Square in New York for 24 hours while in a block of ice and survive.

Big deal!

What WOULD be impressive is if he would stand in Times Square for 24 hours and survive WITHOUT the protection of the block of ice.

Now that would be something to see :!:

cheers,

It may sound stupid but it was actually David Blaine that got me into performing "magic". I have always (for 20 years anyway) been a tarot & palm reader, seance and glass moving kinda guy. However I have also always liked magic, particularly magic performed by weird guys with goatee beards. I later discovered these were mentalists!

It was while watching one of Blaine's TV shows that I realised that magic could touch people in the same way that I knew readings could. It was the bit when the name of a thought of friend (deceased I believe) appears on a truck passing by Blaine and spec at the very moment the spec reveals the name. I understand this was one of those wonderful flukes that sometimes happens when performing magic, but at the time I thought "Wow! Magic doesn't have to be Saturday night light entertainment. It can actually touch people on an emotional level."

And away I went to become a tarot card & palm reading, glass moving, seancing mentalist.

There are a lot of other threads here on Mr.B and a bit of Searching will find all sorts of comments, mostly tolerant and in general OK-ish!
