Tom's on record as saying he approached the Beeb very cautiously about leaving the role and put it to them gently that he wouldn't sign for another series. At that point he realised how unpopular he'd become because they swiftly accepted his resignation and didn't even try to talk him out of it!

Its not all good fun though. Recently weve had a leading actor nearly drown, a prop van run over an actor and a dog handler savaged by her own rottweiler among other injuries. These all happened on the set of another tv series

In a completely different thread stephenmagic wrote:Hello Mandrake, have you heard the DR who rumor?

C'mon, spill the beans, which rumour is this  ?

Conjecture is doing the rounds as always, DT is supposed to be leaving (for at least the third time since he took on the role) and the plot lines are already in this series to lead up to it - even though he was actually filming the Christmas Special in Gloucester last week - and is contracted to do those two specials next year instead of a series. Rose is being brought back to take over from Donna even though the current series is in the can and unlikely to be edited much at all, Martha is popping up in Who and Torchwood like a good locum (!) and Sarah Jane is also on the way back. Good job the Tardis is bigger on the inside, gotta have room for all those clothes and lippy :D !

I'm not a fan of her comedy at all (except perhaps for 'Face, bovvered, Nah'which is a most useful phrase at times!) but she's doing fine in Dr.Who as far as I'm concerned.

I quite like Miss Tate personally. The assistant I disliked was Rose, although I will be interested to see her back (hopefully briefly)...

Dr who

Postby spudgun » May 4th, '08, 07:13

I am an utter dr who fanatic. There ive came out the closet. Its just so very dorky and i did try to avoid this thread so badly.

However after much conversation and debate with my mates as to who the new doctor would be, we short listed it to

1 John Simms
2 Simon pegg

or at the ver amusing ouside (bill Bailey)

I was dreading Catherine Tate as the new assistant, as I dislike her comedy immensely, and thought Donna was an annoying waste of space in the Runaway Bride.

But I have to admit she's doing a great job in the new series. No complaints at all. :)

John Simm as the Doctor would be interesting. Simon Pegg's a bit too much of an everyman - great for Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, but I'm not convinced that he can be the Doctor. Peter Davidson was an 'everyman' Doctor, and that's where the classic series started going downhill for me. As for Bill Bailey, no no no no no never not in a million years - but then I said that about catherine tate.

Personally, I think David Tennant is ace, and I'm in no hurry to see any replacement.

If you check out the rumour sites you'll see John Simm's name mentioned very strongly but still tied in with David Tennant in a neat story twist. Rose is involved....

That is a little theory why it MAY be John Simm. Ever since they had David in the role lots of women watch it, some people are saying that they wanted another young sexy doctor that women think is 'hot' and that guys think is a good actor so both sets of people are happy. I would love to see (but it would never happen) Edward Norton as the Doctor, that would be amazing!

am i right in thinking eric roberts of julia roberts brother fame was the master at some point...........maybe im going nuts

i love david tennant but i have to say i liked Christopher eccleston to for the intensity (like when he first sees the dalek)

However im just thinking what was the name of the guy who plays danny blue in hustle (he'd be wicked by the way)
