My good friend and fellow magician Bobs Your Uncle (Bob McBratney) is trying to get magic back into the Olympics with something called synchronised magic. Has anyone else heard of this because it's a new one on me!

I think it will be a very sad day when magic is considered a sport and put in the games. It is a pastime and an entertainment but definatly not a sport.

I don't think It'll ever be an Olympic Sport. But than again Synchronized swimming is an Olympic sport. A synchronized magic act could look cool though.

Barton: Have you read the Bible, Pete?
Pete: Holy Bible?
Barton: Yeah.
Pete: Yeah, I think so. Anyway, I've heard about it.

How would it even be judged?? Sport is something where two or more people or teams both do the same thing and whoever does it better wins. How on earth can that be applied to magic? Number of Eiffel Towers disappeared in 3 minutes? Bah!

number of charlier cuts in one minute

I suppose it would be judged on style and smmothness much like diving and synchronised swimming but still it should never happen

Did you get your signature quote from The God Delusion? If so, didn't you think it was a great read?

I know. Magic isn't a sport! You wouldn't put acting into the olympics would you?

Yeh I got it from The God Delusion. I thought it was a fantastic read and answered some unanswered questions that I had.

Have you read any of Richard Dawkin's books? I'm about to start the Devils Chaplain which is supposed to be pretty good too.

I'm with you guys on this one.

Magic is not a sport. Never has been and never will be - and whilst i wouldn't mind seeing magic between the events, I think it will be a sad day for the olympics when magic becmes an "olympic sport".

Incidentally I seem to recall people wanted pool and darts as olympic sports at one point too - both of them games over sports.

Hmmmmm...

Is the olympics not satisfying enough?
Watching the Eastern European ladies is normally good enough for me :D :P

You wont find much better anywhere and it's nothing - a rigmarole with a few bits of paper and lots of spiel. That is Mentalism

Apart from synchronised swimming (aka lots of grinning with a thing stuck on your nose) , ballrooom dancing was considered worthy of being an Olympic contest.......

I don't have time at the moment as I have a lot of course work to do but I'm sure that I will over the summer.

I too am not very fond of all these dancing and skating shows. I also dislike the ones were they are searching for the star of a musical, there seem to be loads!

Think of the embarassment it could cause. With all that pressure, they could screw up and expose things...

Anyone see Dave Allen who entered Britains got Talent? Aruguably the UK's top childrens entertainer and he royally made an *rse of himself in front of millions..

Now people will remember him for getting caught out using a duplicate duck!!
