Did anyone else get a pack of steel shims with this? I'm thinking they would be more practical than the glue dots.

I got steel shims with mine, although they don't give the other coins quite the same fix as the others if you know what I mean. I'll be trying the glue!

Yep, the glue is far more effective.

Saw this demo'd today and mine is on its way :D

I already know how Im going to handle the 10p / 2p choice.. heres how i will phrase it..

" Please choose a coin... do you want the 10p or the 2p? The one you choose is the one you will get to keep!! "

Now, if they have just gave you a 10p of theirs, of course they will choose the 10p as its THEIR coin.. and its also the one of higher value.. if they give you both coins, its still 99% certain they will choose the 10p as again, its of higher value even if its still low denomination.

If by any chance they do choose the 2p.. then I would phrase it this way..

" Are you sure you want the 2p? You dont want the 10P? Sure?? Ok we will discard the 10p in just a moment!! "

* after the bend in their hands...

" Look, you chose to keep the 2p.. look at the 10p.. can you see that it's now bent.. you certainly wouldnt be able to spend that 10p now would you? Now you did say you wanted to discard the 10p so I will get rid of it for you "

Act like your about to pocket the 10p then as a second thought hand it to them as a souvenir.

I like that presentation of handling the choice because in both instances it automatically draws focus to the 10p.. if they choose the 2p it still draws attention to the one they chose to 'throw away'.

Just a quick note on the presentation, as I don't actually own this but have seen it performed quite a few times now - hope Rob doesn't mind me sharing but I think it's pretty good. Also - sorry if it's on the actual DVD, I wouldn't know! If it is, I think this is the best method anyway.

You ask "which coin do you want to use?", if they say the 10p, great, if they say the 2p, you can say "that's fine - you use the 2p, I'll use the 10p. I want you to concentrate on it in your 2p, try to warm it up... I'll try the other coin..." etc.

I think that's about the most natural and nothingy way to do it - you're not doing any of this "choose one, oh... er... we'll keep that one safe, or something..."

It's a win-win presentational situation because if they choose the 10p, you - as the magician - bend it in their hands. If they choose the 2p then you - as the magician - demonstrate your power by bending "your coin", whilst they fail to bend "theirs". And there is no ambiguity in the phrasing; they are "using" whichever coin they choose, just in a slightly different way, so it fits perfectly for both options.

As I do not use a two coin presentation may I contribute the method that I shared with DP (but sadly missed the deadline for the DVD!).

If the person chooses the 10p, all well and good. Otherwise the patter is this...

"Not many people know but the 2p is slightly more expensive to make than the 10p due to the higher copper content. But because of the amount produced it eventually evens out..."

This first bit is balls! It also serves to distract them from their original choice and allows the following to make sense:

"I want you to concentrate on your 2p because in a moment it will start to have a profound effect on the other coin..."

Note "the other coin". By not saying '10p' you draw less attention to the fact that it is NOT the one they chose.

When I used this presentation I never had ANYONE question the choice. Not before or after. In many respects I preferred it when they chose the 2p as I liked the concept of "in a moment your 2p will have a profound effect on the other coin".

Hope this is useful to some of you.

If I get asked "what if Id choosen the other coin" or "he must of done sumthing whilsti was writing" then
I just bend a coin right up close by their eyes with the coinvexed...

Its great cos they focus on the coin and your fingers cover the dirty work,, their so busy looking at the coin that you just put the "spare change" back in your pocket....that really messes with them!

Chris idea is good and i can see it working.

I simply show the coin before putting it in in their hand and remind them of this fact after.

Hi everybody !
I live in France and just ordered one of those ;-)

BUT nobody seems to say anything here about the Euro coins : which ones are the best, are they bending easily etc.

Thanks for your help with this, should have searched better before...

When you get this you will need to experiment with Euro coins. You won't have any difficulties finding what works best for you.

Thanks for your answer, as long as one of the cheapest will do it, it will be fine ;-)

Hi domihari

Unfortunately, it's just not that easy to bend euro coins - the copper coins are easily do-able, but not that impressive (small diameter, similar to an english penny), the larger coins are MUCH thicker than sterling, making them very difficult to use.
In fact, without giving anything away, you cannot use 2Euro or 50cent coins, so really, you're only options will be 5cent coins or some time in the gym and 20cent coins.

I wish you guys would write bad reviews and stop tempting my credit card! I get impressed very easily. Can i assume from all these comments that someone like me - big, gnarled hands (too much rugby!) and limited sleight ability could master this? I'm good with words, showmanship and misdirection. By the way, I notice one or two of you enthusiasts are now selling this product. May I ask why?
