Paul O'Grady is really into magic so it should be good.

Is that who it was!? I noticed this on a silent TV in the pub today. not being able to hear a word of it, i was very curious why he kept bumping Paul's rear.

I like his champagne bottle production but eveytime I see him, he always does some variation on it. Pickpocket thing was well pulled off though.

I saw this, too. If anyone wants a copy of it I can get one, but I didn't think it was that spectacular.

It was unfortunate that, right near the beginning of the show as the voice-over guy was saying who was coming up later, they showed a quick clip of the bottle production, which meant that when the viewers at home finally saw it later in the show, they wouldn't be surprised, they'd be looking to see how it was done. An editor who obviously knows little about magic.

I thought this was a great example of how you can use relatively basic material (in ways of sleights) to great effect on tv.
I'm not a big fan of Keith Barry (hated the tv special) but he obviously impresses the general public so all the luck to him for doing so.
I think as people into magic we can tend to miss out on the astonishment as we are looking at the mechanics of the effect rather than the effect itself. Simple material pulled off well.

Yup. I've always wondered about the mechanics behind the bottle from balloon production. Now I know... unfortunately.

You'd think someone would have asked Barry if the clip they had in mind was suitable or not.

He got screwed recently on Irish TV too. He was preforming paper-clipped and the camera dipped a little low

If anyone wants to download the clip I've uploaded it HERE - Windows Media Video (*.wmv) format, 7 mins 34 secs, 730kbps variable bitrate, 320x240, 28.1MB.

I watched it again and I quite liked the pick-pocket effect - I'm pretty certain I know how it's done and he performed it very well.

I know how it was done, except maybe for one move which I wasn't sure of. I can think of a number of ways to do it, but I don't see him performing them somehow. Most of it is understandable though.

I liked him, his bottle production was a bit unfortunate, David stone does a fantastic production on a (swedish??) tv show.
Im definetly going put some work into a pick-pocket routine...I have some ideas..that is kosher in the magic community?
