Any Epsom Derby Predictions?

Postby Tomo » Jun 6th, '08, 17:27

It's the Epsom Derby tomorrow, the premier horse race of the flat season. Anyone care predict a winner?

The runners and riders are here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/other_s ... 433070.stm

It'll be between KANDAHAR RUN and ALESSANDRO VOLTO...

my psychic eye has spoken...which is odd, considering its an eye and not a mouth...

when the winner is interviewed, there will be a fat lady in pink and lace, with dyed blonde hair to the top left of screen, and some kind of large white board with three lines of writing on it...

deja vu!

i have also just placed a few bets on the cruel horse whipping frenzy dwarf riding piece of entertainment that is the derby...

one bet will get me £1,2604 if it comes in...

oh and two horses will die!

they should make it a rule that if they put down the horse, the jockey goes too... 8)

I'll be putting £1 each way on Dr. Fremantle just for the name, but I fancy King of Rome or Kandahar Run. Depending on what change I've got in my pocket I might give them a try too.

Dammit :( Nothing. Dr Fremantle came in 4th but apparently that doesn't pay.

Never mind. Did you know that in their fight for equality, members of the militant wing of the Jockey Club used to throw themselves under suffragettes?

*snerk*

I didn't realise it was the Derby until I came home from the Manchester meet-up (all two of us). And by then it was long past.

Still, I'm off to Haydock Park on the 3rd of July (a Bolton Carers' Group outing). Any psychic tips?

Paddy Power offered bets that paid out on the 4th place. Whether it was a good bet or not is something else, but if you are going to take on the bookies, you need to know what tools are in your box :)
