Top Hats

Postby Ian The Magic-Ian » Jun 19th, '08, 04:52

I couldn't find this, and if it is a repeat thread I apologize. But are there any websites that anyone could recommend which sell top hats. Not antique top hats but just formal tuxedo collapsible top hats. Thanks!

Pete: Holy Bible?
Barton: Yeah.
Pete: Yeah, I think so. Anyway, I've heard about it.

I tried to get one for fancy dress a while ago, but the internet wasn't too good for this. Most of the ones I found were just for hire. I'd try your local formal wear shops first before trying the internet.

Not collapsible, but doubt the better quality ones will be.

Most magic dealers can get ahold of folding tap hats. They are usually decent quality. You have to be gentle with them. I would not recomend opening then using the snap method as you will either break the mechanism or the rim of the hat. But overal they are not bad, and not too expensive. 40.00 USD I believe, not sure of the UK

If you get one Ian, make sure you don't offend me because I've made it a life ambition to, having been angered, carefully remove a man's hat, punch the top through and replace it on his head. At least once before I die.

They're usually on sale at the Blackpool Show every year, perhaps other Magic Club Gala/Dealer days will have them as well?

I am going to a convention (maybe) in November. I'll look there. Thanks and I won't cross you Farlsborough, that's also one thing I wanted to do so I think I'll think twice before buying one.

Mike Danata has some top hats in stock. Check his site at http://www.mikedanatasmagicstudio.co.uk or give him a call
