Your recommendation?

Postby shippers » Jun 22nd, '08, 14:21

As a relative newcomer, I'd like your ideas as to what trick I should purchase next.

Currently in my arsenal of magic are abundant TT tricks, pen through note, bitten/folded coin tricks and string through neck etc.

I'd like to take a step up to something a bit bigger and was considering Interlace, but I'd be interested in hearing your recommendations as to what I should go with next.

I'd like to avoid card tricks, my audience is primarily walkabouts and my sleight of hand is above average if that helps with your decision.

Thanks in advance.

I recommend a good book — if you don't like card tricks I'd suggest Bobo's Modern Coin Magic (but then, I'm biased towards coins). That way you're paying for hundreds of tricks rather than just the one

I second that - go for a good book rather than buying single tricks. You'll get far better value for money and you'll also learn new sleights and techniques that can be applied to many other routines.

I'll most likely buy a book as well - once I've read through all the reviews! - but I definately want to buy a trick. As I say, Interlace looks interesting but I'd really be keen to know what people think I should opt for at the level I'm at.

There's a length review somewhere about Interlaced.

You'll need some sleight of hand for the ring vanish (bags of confidence too) and you'll also need a piar of loose fitting trousers (jeans are not recommended) and some tailoring skills.

I read the review and that's why I'm interested in it but I can't make my mind up between Interlace or Oddball.

Interlace would probably be better for walkaround stuff, it's an entirely different type of effect to Oddball though so it's hard to recommend one either way. Go on, get both.

I've gone for Interlace and it should be here within 24 hours. I'll let you know how I get on via the review thread already posted.

Thanks people!
