Who wants a table?

Postby Chris » Jul 11th, '08, 12:15

Hello this is more of a market research post....

Ive recently met someone who makes the most fantastic Magicians tables/Plinths...out of mdf!

Ive brought one off him for when i do wedding fayres and exhibitions etc...

He's basically looking to see if theres a market for these or not? there rubusk and have two wheels a shelf and a carry handle...

Im gona upload a picture next week if people want to look at it...

The top of the table is the exact same size as a large close-up mat, and the height is just around my middle section, Im 5"11 so work that out?

But they would be made to measure, or flat packed?

Do you think this is something he could sell?

Cheers

How much would they be sold for?

Barton: Have you read the Bible, Pete?
Pete: Holy Bible?
Barton: Yeah.
Pete: Yeah, I think so. Anyway, I've heard about it.

I continue to look for a suitable portable table. May be resorting to making one soon (if my Table Books 1 & 2 ever arrive)...

Would be interested in pics and pricing...

I've posted some photo's of a couple of card tables that I've made on the link above if anyone's interested.

These are made from an MDF tabletop which is then covered on the top with neoprene and then a layer of quality baize before being finished..

Also available in red, black and purple.

Thanks for the comment.

The legs aren't included as these are just table tops that sit on top of a keyboard/synthesizer stand that you can buy from most catalogue shops such as Argos for around £20.

I like it Dat, not something id ever get use out of but it certainly looks good.

The table I use is a box, made by made to measure Magic. Fits on a stand and can be made exactly how you wanted, painted how you like. I need a replacement after some noob knocked it over and cracked it, but luckily he offered to pay.

I will take a picture of my table if you guys are interested.

Phew - £200 is a lot and I'd be interested in seeing the photo's when ready.

I sell mine for £70 without postage and each one is hand made to order.

most of what I've sold has been oval shaped as seen in the photo with the occasional rectangular table being requested.

I generally use whatever MDF table tops that are stocked by MFI. If you want something particular then let me know and I'll see if I can match it.

I'm planning to make up a few more over the next few weeks and will post photo's when ready.

would you consider making some fairly basic things for mentalism purposes dat?

i was thinking of a very thin and small round surface, with a couple of things built into it...no more than a foot and a half long or square?

no electronics or anything, just a couple of things...

if so, i may be interested...

My skills - or lack of them are really just into covering table tops with a layer of neoprene and then baize and to then finish the top off with some edging.

The coverings are smooth all around with no wrinkles etc and if I say so myself the finish is as good as anything that you'll find elsewhere.

I don't see any problems in getting hold of different size and thickness tops and then covering these but other additions will depend on what they are.

I'm more than happy to consider trying to make something to your own spec that has 'additions' if you let me know what they are by PM.
