I thought that i would start a topic on wise words of the masters. now what does this mean?
Simple. from time to time, you will find yourself sat down reading a book by one of the past masters, and words will leap out at you from the page.
as an example.....
I’m sitting here reading the magic of Slydini. Not the tricks, the introduction.
And what’s interesting is, it reaffirms my long held belief that most people that do Slydini’s effects, have never read this part of the book.
In fact, some of magic’s best advice is sitting right here in front of me. As a perfect example,
Slydini’s words on making your magic believable are worth repeating.
Slydini states that.....
Unless you convince your audience that you believe in those things you are doing, no one will believe you.
The performer has one great advantage, in that the average spectator wants to believe.
So, If your expression and attitude do not express belief, then people will see immediately in your face, that what ever you are saying or doing Is not true.
If however you can convince them of your belief, then they will follow you in your faith.
now, to me, this gives the reason why magic is viewed by many in a different light nowadays.
most modern day hobbyists, ( of all ages) your hit and run funster out on the streets, dont convey this feeling of belief.
what say you? and what are those words that have hit you between the eyes?
