How did they get into the Circle then?

I suspect it's more who you know etc.

For instance I know no magicians (except for here on TM), let alone anyone in the MC. Therefore the odds on me being put forward for membership are, well, zero.

I'll live.

I suspect even Mark couldn't do that without a vacuum pump....

It's not who you know, by the way, Paul, and I'm sure you'd have no difficulty in getting in. Contact the Examinations Secretary and ask his advice.

Can't see there being massive amounts of benefits to paying the £100 joining fee when I'm living this far up North away from the HQ.

I get asked a lot about being a member when I'm performing - it's like having a reference I suppose but membership will mean different things to different magicians.

There are numerous tangible benefits for membership.including a members' forum, The Magic Circular, the find a magician service, a network of fabulous magicians, and the 'charter mark' of magic that enhances your booking potential and credibility among the lay public.

If you do get to the HQ, you have access to amazing facilities including the library and museum.

If you are a serious performer, the value of membership is huge.

If you're in the Midlands then Ali Bongo is re-opening the House of Magic in Stourbridge this Friday afternoon and is lecturing in the evening. If you're lucky then they may have a couple of tickets left. see MagicWeek for details.

Anyone from TM going? if so then I look forward to seeing you there
