Patter

Postby flydini » Sep 1st, '08, 09:41

Hey Gang -

Does anyone know where I can find any books or printed materials that have great, old timey magician's patter? I'm thinking of the kind of almost hokey patter you would have heard by a magician in the 20s, 30s and 40s. Things about returning from the Orient, etc... The more outlandish but true to the time, the better.

Probably anything Blackstone or Mandrake said would be good. I just don't really know where to start. Anyone ever come across anything like this?

Thanks!

I would make your own up. If you do manage to find an original transcript it will probably be a little disappointing. Why not use your imagination and make your own "old time" patter that will be tailored for your own needs?

Two to recommend are:

Scripting Magic by Pete McCabe and

Transformations by lawrence Haas

Both are reviewed on TM somewhere and will both help you to develop your own patter.

It's not really an optical illusion - it just looks like one!
