Hi Allen,
that's very strange; Microsoft Global Input Method Editors (IMEs) allows computer users to enter complex characters and symbols - now, I am not sure why is it starting (unless the pdf has some kind of form)
As it's been suggested, you can reinstalling "Acrobat reader"; if it still doesn't work, first you need to check if the file is indeed a pdf file. If you open the file in Notepad or any other text editor, you should see a line like
%PDF-1.4
at top; now the version may be different; if that line is not there, then it's not a pdf file (if the line is there, it still doesn't mean it's a valid file though)
Next, open up "Acrobat reader" -> Edit -> Preferences: Disable any Form options you may get.
If still encountering the same problem, and if you have ME disk handy, you can try reinstalling asian text support by:
1. Open Regional and Language Options in Control Panel (click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Regional and Language Options).
2. On the Languages tab, under Supplemental language support, select the Install files for East Asian languages check box.
3. Click OK or Apply. You will prompted to insert the Windows CD-ROM or point to a network location where the files are located.
4. After the files are installed, you must restart your computer.
that should solve the problem.
