Hi, im just discovering the mystery behind the man and i'd like to learn some more.

Does anyone know where i can read up about him (or efforts that have tried to find him), im looking for books, articles, e books, anything really.

Always liked a good mystery and to mix that with cards seems wicked!

It's a shame, you just missed an issue of Genii that contained a long article on Erdnase and Dai Vernon's study of him! Not sure of other sources though, I'm assuming you have Expert at the Card Table?

I missed that article too annoyingly. I was under the impression that noone really knew who he was, and whilst there was an Andrews around at the time that EATCT came out, he apparently wasn't really known for his skill as a card magician.

However, that information does come from the BBC's history of magic series, so I don't really know how reliable it is.

Gazzo's and David Britlands Phantoms at the card table is a good read, and has some background info on what was happening when E.A.T.C.T Was being written.

You might also enjoy "The Magician and the Cardsharp: The Search for America's Greatest Sleight-of-Hand Artist", which is about Dai Vernon's search for the man who can deal from the middle of the deck, but also mentions Vernon's early (and ongoing) obsession with the Erdnase book.
Here's a link to the book at Amazon http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/ ... severenetA
