Superly Posh (flappy) Card Box?

Postby pcwells » Sep 18th, '08, 13:30

Hi all,

I'm looking for a very posh-looking wooden card box - essentially just an ornate wooden (and preferably magnetic-locking) version of the cheap black plastic ones we're all familiar with.

I have a wooden one in my magic drawer, but it has a horrible painted interior and the gimmick can't always be relied upon to end up in the right place...

I've checked the Five of Hearts website and looked to see if Joe Porper does such a thing, but have so far drawn a blank.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Cheers,

Pete

Thanks!

The one from emagictricks is the one I have - and the painted interior does look horrible at close quarters.

I'll have a good look at the other ones though.

Cheers,

Pete

mikes is lined in felt. Its a bit plain on the outside, but you could Personalize it very well with things from HobbyCraft.

Thanks!

Plain is actually good in my book. :)

By the blurb, it looks like Merlins of Wakefield sells the Viking one, but I can't say for sure, cos the picture won't load on Merlins' website.

But at the price difference I'm swaying towards Mike's...

Cheers,

Pete

We have held this one for ages now, i can truely say it's the best we've ever seen and when placed side by side with a wooden inlayed version, it bets it every time.

Hope this helps

Thanks,

But for the price, I'd like one that isn't lined...

Still torn between Mikes and Viking's...

The new ones are plain wood on the inside.

I think the choice is whether or not you want a very expensive, nice-looking card box (at an expensive, nice-looking price), or a plainer one that will do the job. If the trick you want it for has a story about your great-grandfather's biggest poker game, it might be worth paying the extra.

Then again, if you wanted to make it look old, you'd probably feel happier about bashing the £15 one around. Some routines will benefit from using a very plain wooden box.

Also, I think the felt lining is possibly a plus. It looks more like a card box than paint or plain wood, and presumably it'll be a little bit more stealthy.

i personally wasnt too happy with the viking one, it didnt always do whats needed with mine...

i recently bought an 8.50 one from cards4magic - metal, and wierdly looks like it couldnt hold a whole deck..(but it does) and its a double change box too...metal though, so you'll have to felt-up the needed bits yourself..

I'm actually looking for a box for a haunted routine - cards won't feature in it, but the card box would be dead useful.

That's way plain is good - I don't want a fan of aces emblazoned on the top.

Old and shabby would be good if 'posh' isn't forthcoming. Either way, it needs to be seen as a 'useful box', similar to Eyeore's Useful Pot. :)

Following a tip from a friend on another effect, I found this

For my purposes in a haunted presentation, it looks like the best bet yet.

Oh burger.

I placed an order for that posh box in my previous post, only to have my money refunded with a message stating that it was no longer available.

Poo and bum, I say.

:(
