Hi Adrian,
You have read some good books.
By far the one I value the most out of those on your list is Patterns 1. With the exception of Elman most of your other books are on the Ericksonian language pattern/Milton Model/NLP side of things. I love this stuff and it was also the entry point into hypnosis for me. However that was with reference to therapy. Then using it in mentalism inspired by e.g Jermay/ Knepper/ Enriquez.
Although their is a lot of fluff on the NLP side of things their is a small percentage of it that is extremely effective and is good for anyone to master especially hypnotists. Read Patterns 1 for years like you would 13 Steps or Tarbell. You will always find something of value in there. REading Trance-formations would help put all the other stuff into a decent practical context. So would Training Trances.
My book is much more about practical direct techniques that you can easily use in almost any setting. It is almost devoid of any fancy language patterns

I have attempted to provide a structure to the approach based on what works for me and those I have trained. It involves a Set Up and what I refer to as a Set Piece prior to Induction. All of the inductions in the book are rapid meaning they take from a few seconds to a minute to execute. Most result in arm catalepsy a useful point of leverage. From there I outline word for word with explanation half a dozen routines I have done for odd impromptu reasons or do regularly as part of my impromptu act.
With regard to getting started in hypnosis rather than deeper into theory it is not necessary that you master this more complex stuff first. Using simple direct language works fine. More complex does not mean more advanced. The best hypnotists I know keep it simple. I am sure most of them can also drone on like Erickson, stack metaphors, be indirect, use double binds, complex equivalents, conversational postulates and much more. However what matters much more is the attitude and intention the hypnotist has when he or she speaks to their subject. So say it, mean it.
Fear of looking a dork will sadly often prevent people becoming hypnotists and many other things too. Just remind yourself. It's not you, it's them. Prepare yourself for the possibility of it going well.
