Dice Effects

Postby proteus » Oct 8th, '08, 12:19

I don't go through many decks of cards, but whenever I buy magic I'll usually buy a couple of decks.

Cards4magic sell 2 decks of bikes with 5 bicycle branded dice for the same price as 2 decks on their own.

Always a sucker for a free gift, I now have lots of dice but I don't know what to do with them.

Any suggestions for sources of dice effects would be appreciated.

Thanks

I know there are some remote viewing / psychic dice tricks available. But if you really want to do something cool with them look up info on dice stacking.

Dice

I am assuming we are talking close up and you are prepared to do a little work. Mark Leveridge has a nice routine called Wild Dice. It involves dice moving within matchboxes. He sells it as a separate effect with all you need. Or you can buy a DVD which includes the effect; or the routine as an ebook and make it yourself. He gives great service by the way.

You could also get a great little paper back book by Sidney H Radner called strangely enough Radner on Dice.

Also Dice Dexterity by Audley Walsh
There is Scarne on Dice, although it mainly deals with gambling moves.
And as has already been said there are numerous DVD´s and videos on Dice Stacking.

The Dr Sack routine from "Classic Secrets of Magic" is a real eye-popper. I saw it being advertised as a separate manuscript a few years ago.

There's a chapter on dice in SW Table Magic by Karl Fulves.

Ive sat through the routine many, many times.

the one thing with the saks routine is, the dice must have square edges, as the rounded corners can effect the way the dice roll in the fingers..

you're like Yoda.you dont say much, but what you do say is worth listening to....

This is true but it is worth getting the straight edge dice.

The Saks routine is like watching pure magic. Totally examinable real dice that visually change dots right in front of your eyes. It's a killer bit of magic.

With a bit of searching you can find the Sack routine on YouTube. The first one that came up for me was in German.....

So, it is Saks, Sak, Sachs, Sacks, Sach... ? Every mention on the interweb uses a different spelling!

Anyway, looks like I need to buy "Classic Secrets of Magic", now.

When my family starves, I'm blaming everyone here.

check out the worlds greatest magic DVD on magic with dice

great stuff

check out paul gertner's triple die lemma

we're going to be stocking "dice wands" which have tips that match the color of the dice for that added something. I'm not sure what that something is but it will be added :)

10%?

They sound very vegas .

you could go one step further and make them up like the old marconik ball cane / wand. you know, with one that vanishes and appears on the end, like a coin wand but low tech.
this used with a chopped dice and cup, could open up all kinds of interesting routines.

I use a set if dice for a matrix routine they are the ideal if there is no sugar cubes handy. And this can be really effective with dice even better if all the number are facing the same at the end. ( good practice if nothing else)
