John B Born Lecture at Ipswich Magical Society

Postby DrTodd » Sep 16th, '08, 12:08

Our society really enjoyed a fantastic lecture from Johh B Born last night.

John is the winner of the IBM close-up competition and author of Meant to Be, an amazing tome on his eight-stage process of magical creation and its application to the 'Any Card at Any Number' plot (which we saw in full action last night).

John also did a panoply of coin effects both on a table and in the air, as well as a great linking rings routine and other tidbits and insights on how to be a great magician.

I also liked the fact that he was influenced by his grandfather, who studied mentalism for over 35 years in Wichita Kansas...

You can find out more about John here:

He is currently touring England, so check him out if you can!

I agree with Todd - one of the best lectures I have ever seen. John B. Born was truly born to perform magic

Apart from being one of the best close up magicians around he is an extreely charasmatic guy.

If you get a chance - see the lecture. You will not be disappointed.

I have to agree, his lecture is top quality. Although I got the impression he's not done too many lectures. It didn't matter as Bananfish says he's very charismatic

Watched him lecture in Cardiff last night, great sleight of hand performer, lots of nice Coin Ideas, his Matrix work being some of the best i've mseen in a while. Along with the previously mentioned CAAN stuff he has some lovely ideas.

Recommended.

Well as an almost beginner I saw him here in France a few months ago, and it was the most magical moment in my life by now !

A very nice guy, he loves magic and performs his magic with ease and class.

Sorry my english words aren't the best, but I have a very high opinion about John Born and his magic which seems soooooooo near the REAL THING.

Can only reiterate what commentators have stated here. Caught John's lecture ("Principles and approach to Sleight of Hand Artistry") in Limerick on 6th October and it was simply a fantastic evening's entertainment. Understand that John has now branched into the area of mentalism and look forward to that lecture whenever
