Face-up card force

Postby Johnny » Oct 20th, '04, 17:00

I've just received Colour Fusion (great trick!) but I was wondering if anyone knows of a 'simpler' force than the ones suggested on the DVD? They suggest either the classic or riffle down force, but they are a bit hit and miss for me. I normally use the cut deeper or criss cross force but obviously they won't work for this effect because the deck is face-up.

Thanks for any advice :)

I don't know about the specifics of this trick, but a possibility is the cross-cut force (can be done with the cards face up).

I see there's been a review of a book offering 500 different card forces, so maybe the author of the post could find a suitable selection of forces for you?

to be honest, id suggest keep using the riffle force as its one of the easiest forces to use, you say its "hit or miss", what part of it is the bit your finding hard?

chap - for colour fusion, i have a doublebacker above the fusion card on top of the deck... cut these cards to the middle and hold a break above... simple matter of doing a riffle force and then a DL to show the selected card!

Johnny

I too had this problem..

Eventually I went with the riffle force which seems to work fine. I usually do it face down and then just have the card above the break.

I too didn't want to use the classic face up (just looked too daunting) and although the above is not perfect it seems to work fine as the rest of the trick blows them away (usually).

I'm mulling around some ideas to do a simple force and handling to get the card into a position for the complex fusion but it's proving a little awkward at the moment. When I've worked somethig out (this may take some time) I'll post a description which hopefully could be used for both simple and complex fusion.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the advice, guys. Ozman gave me some inspiration with the suggestion of using a d***le-b***ed card. What I do now is the cut deeper force with the D-B on top and the fusion card 2nd from top. After the spectator has cut the pack twice it's just a matter of a DL to show the face of the fusion card, and as I use a str***er deck that's "easy". :D

Many thanks again, I really wanted a way to show that the gaffed card has a completely blue back and now thanks to the help I got on here I can. I am a happy (magic) bunny!!!! :D

(If I have given anything away about the Colour Fusion effect, please edit this post)

I have a modified Hindu Shuffle thats ideal for this, a technique thats very similar is taught in the Royal Road to card magic.

Personally I don't like the double backer as it requires two gimicked cards in the deck. Using the Colour Fusion card ONLY means that afterwards the deck is clean and can be shown or handed out. If you need to use another card then I would go for a shortened card as this is as effective for getting a break and is less liklely to be spotted.

I use a force that's perfect for a face up deck and requires the colour fusion card to be 26 cards from the top of the face up deck. The spectator cuts off a random number of cards and there's a VERY easy mathmatical force using the number of cards that the spectator has cut.

If you email me I will send you the details, including the routine and this force appears SO random that the spectator will ALWAYS think that their selection is random. Perfect for Colour Fusion!

I alway do a couple of tricks with the blue backed deck with the colour fusion card already planted in the deck ( I think that this is suggested in the DVD along with the reasoning behind this). You just need to be carefull how you spread the cards but practice will sort this!
