If I were American, I would be voting for Obama!

I took up Politics AS Level this year and we've been discussing both candidates policies a lot and he seems to top McCain!

What be your thoughts on the election?

Don't vote.... it only encourages them!!

I would vote for Obama if i lived in the USA - Only because i think the other option McCain is a weaker candidate.

It was also sad to hear that Obama grandmother died the other day.

I have a funny feeling about this election dare i predict it - Butterfly voting again and african american race riots if that does happen to Obama

I think I'm kidding myself to even consider that either party could offer any genuine change, but I would still like Obama to win, not least because of the great social advance it would represent, being a black man in the white house, and I just feel McCain has no charisma. He seems a bit slimy (sorry, is that slanderous?) and desperate.

Current predictions indicate that Obama is only likely to lose if the prejudices of the masses are too much. Having said that, yesterday's news showed people queuing for up to 4 hours to get their votes in, and there were tons of black people out in masses to vote for him. That was the easy part - the hard part was getting the support of the white Americans to whom he is either just another candidate, or who have reserves about a black man.


I sound like I'm leaning heavily on the race issue, but I'm not really - truth is though, it is a big factor in this election and could be a huge factor on the final outcome.

I wished I had done Politics at A Level. Would have been fun.

Obama is half "black", half "white".

He is no more "black" than he is "white"

So why do we refer to him as "Black"?
If you were referring to actual skin colour, you would of course call him "brown." It really does confuse me.

Same with Bob Marley! His mother was a white Scottish lady!

I have to admit though, the rhetoric Obama is using in his speeches and ads are good.

It seems 'Whiteness' is recessive.

I think cause we live in 'white' parts of the world, it's the norm to be white, so it's not really considered. If someone has some other ethnicity, it's more focused on.
Sorry guys, but it appears that being white is boring. If someone is from another part of the world, then it's more interesting because you don't know so much about it.

However, I don't believe he's half white. I think it's a much smaller amount, is it not? I don't recall either of his parents being full white, but perhaps Im wrong. Someone check.

Obama has a much higher worldwide profile now, but that's most likely again due to the 'gimmick' of his colour and the coverage that has received, rather than actually himself. Which is a shame, because it'd be interesting to see how it would differ if he was white or if him being black was a non-issue.

If he were standing next to Michael Jackson and you asked a kid to point to the black man, who would he point to? The Afro-American or the half-white guy?

Myself, I voted for John McCain - however, Barack Obama has won the election. I must now strap myself in and wait for my taxes to inevitably go up...
