Left Luggage

Postby Rufio » Dec 7th, '08, 13:13

After a mild form of alcohol abuse on a night out last night I was going through the process of emptying my pockets as I was getting ready for bed. I realised to my disappointment that I was missing one of my 2 plastic wallets which had Royal Scam and Twisted Sisters in.

Playing back through last night's events I realise I know the exact moment I lost it. I was ecstatically happy last night (I still am) from a great night, so with the positive glow I decided to do some magic on the night bus home to pass the time. Fun was had by all. Pretty much showed them the kitchen sink, inc quite a few packet effects. Anyway, whilst I was only carrying a normal deck, 2 plastic wallets and 2 sponge balls last night, I did have lots of cr*p (not the best) in my pockets, and recall placing things on seats.

it's a further shame as I'm meeting someone I aint seen in 3 years next weekend and she isn't aware of me doing magic, so it would have been nice to show those effects. Incidentally, if anyone wants to generously sell these on for a good Samaritan price (or even just the key cards) let me know by PM.

So... what items have you lost in magic? Have they been on nights out? Was alcohol involved? How did you feel? Often such problems can be overcome by not lazily placing cards willy nilly upon your person and some pocket maangement. I've gone through a few spiders for The Web in my time...

I've manged to loose a few things.

Countless card cases as I've got a habit of leaving them on the specs table.

Sponge bunnies, at least one of the little beasties always seems to get away when I take them for an outing.

TTs, I've managed to loose a few of them, no idea where or how though.

An ID, again no idea what happened to that, I think it might
have been left on a specs table.

A Raven, I was unhooking myself in the ladies and I think I left it in there.

urm I think that's about it...

I once lost one of the coins in 'Hopping Halfs' in a quite rough pub in Wakefield. Fortunately someone handed it it to the person behind the bar, as he was my son, he brought it home  Oh, and yes, the demon drink was to blame

To a layman if you told them you can't find your ID they just wouldn't understand. I can relate to setting things up in the toilets: I always feel like I'm in a Talk To Frank advert everytime I go into the toilet cubicle to sort out some IT. If accosted by vigilant and suspicious security you could honestly say: "'it's not what it looks like!"

One would hope that whoever found those aforementioned packet effects could think about it and develop an interest in magic. On a side point, Magic Bunny (it's not a faux pas to mention that other magic forum is it?) has some good bargains on there: I got another Royal Scam for £7.50 inc p&p. It's not one to overlook. No doubt a cheap Twisted Sisters will crop up on eBay at some point. Is it me, or does anyone else regularly type in trick names on eBay, find something cheap, casually "view seller's other items" and then develop an interest in other magic items you had previously never heard of?

Rough pub in Wakefield?! Surely not! I picture the kind of pubs you get like that one in Shameless; i'd steer well clear of those places. Pretentious cocktail bars are clearly the way forward...
