Spending Christmas itself with Mum's side of the family, having a meal with Dad's side, then on Boxing Day (my birthday) heading back to Swansea to enjoy a Christmas Party for a small business I help out at.

I'm enjoying myself immensely at the moment, having managed to wangle a week and a half off work. Alternating the smallest possible amounts of housework with plenty of computer fun and long-neglected crafts.

We always have a very quiet Christmas. Neither of us is Christian, so the religious aspect is irrelevant. Our nearest family members are in Queensland and California. And we're basically not the sort to get all of a tiswas about decorations and making everything "perfectly Christmassy".

I managed to get around to putting up our tree (18 inches high, sits on top of the TV) last Thursday, which happened to be our 21st wedding anniversary.

We exchange presents in the morning, and have the traditional roast turkey for lunch/early dinner, with Christmas pudding to follow. We might play a CD of Christmas music. There tend to be more nibbles about the place -- it's the only time of year we buy a box of chocolates -- and we may be somewhat more likely to have something alcoholic. And of course there's more seasonal stuff on TV.

Otherwise, Christmas is essentially the same as any other day around here, except there's no newspapers and no mail.

Our rubbish is collected on Thursdays, so that's been shifted to Saturday this week. Hope I remember.

Going to grandparents and than on boxing day, (not a big U.S. Holiday) practicing my show again, and again and again...

Barton: Have you read the Bible, Pete?
Pete: Holy Bible?
Barton: Yeah.
Pete: Yeah, I think so. Anyway, I've heard about it.

Im going to be up at the crack of dawn because it's my turn to do the Christmas dinner this year. I should never have told my family that I learned to cook.

Christmas is a pain in the ar*e these days. It's for kids really, and for the rest of us, it's the only day of the year where we can start drinking heavily before noon, and not have to feel like a wino about it. "Cheers!"

Merry Xmas all.

I'm going to a party tonight (must wrap presents), having the usual quiet night in tomorrow before the tribe assembles at my sister's on Xmas day for a slap up feed, plenty of booze, my brother-in-law's famous cheeseboard, daft games, tea, and then on to a party in the evening. Dunno what's happening on Boxing Day yet. Probably staring at the telly eating chocolate and tangerines, and drinking red wine, but there's a traditionally Very Good party on Saturday night.

A mate from work was complaining about dinner for eight on Christmas day. Eight? Eight?! That's nothing! Nine of us meet at my mum's for dinner every couple of weeks!

Most of the 26 are from the wife's family; they are really into the whole family thing at Christmas and seeing as this year is our turn to host, we have to invite the whole lot of 'em. Her parents, sister, sister's boyfriend, uncles, aunts, cousins, the whole flippin' lot round our gaff! And we only live in a tiny studio flat! (OK, I'm joking about the studio flat bit).
